Genuine Honda Oil Pressure Switch (37240-PT0-014) - Wide Honda & Acura Fitment
If your oil pressure light is flickering or staying on, but your oil level's fine and the engine sounds healthy, the culprit is often this cheap switch rather than an actual oil pressure problem. The oil pressure switch tells your dash whether oil pressure is where it should be, and when it fails, it sends a false warning (or leaks oil from the switch itself). This is the genuine Honda replacement, and it fits an enormous range of Honda and Acura models, so there's a good chance it's the one your car needs.
The Light That Isn't What It Looks Like
Worth understanding, because a failing switch is commonly mistaken for a serious engine problem.
The oil pressure switch monitors your engine's oil pressure and triggers the dashboard warning light if pressure drops too low. That light is there to warn you of a genuine, engine-threatening problem, so when it comes on, it's alarming, and it should be taken seriously.
But the switch itself wears out and fails, and when it does, it can send a false signal, the light comes on (or flickers) even though your actual oil pressure is fine. It can also start leaking oil from the switch body as its internal seal ages, which shows up as a small oil leak around the switch. If your oil level is good, the engine sounds normal, and there's no other sign of trouble, a failing switch is a common and cheap explanation, far more likely than an actual oil pressure failure on a well-maintained engine.
That said, never ignore a real oil pressure warning. If you're unsure, verify actual oil pressure with a mechanical gauge before assuming it's the switch, but on a healthy engine, the switch is usually the answer.
Fits Almost The Entire Lineup
This is the practical strength of this part.
Honda used this same oil pressure switch across a remarkably wide range of vehicles and decades, from 80s Civics and CRXs through late-2000s Accords, Pilots, and Ridgelines, and across nearly the whole Acura lineup. If you've got a Honda or Acura from the mid-80s through the late 2000s, there's a strong chance this is your switch.
Because it's so widely shared, it's a standard part to keep on hand, and an easy one to confirm by part number against your vehicle.
Use The Genuine Part
On a sensor switch, correct calibration and a reliable seal are the whole job. The genuine Honda switch reads accurately and seals properly, where a cheap aftermarket switch can give false readings (putting you right back to chasing a phantom oil light) or leak prematurely. At this price, the genuine part is the obvious choice, it's a direct replacement that threads in with no modification.
