TECH TALK: Hondata KPRO V4
The Hondata KPro remains the gold standard for K-series engine management and has become the go-to solution for enthusiasts looking to unlock the full potential of their RSX, Civic Si, and K-swapped Honda builds. KPro V4 allows complete control over fuel, ignition timing, cam angle, rev limits, launch control, datalogging, and countless other calibration parameters that simply aren't available through the factory ECU. Whether you're running a stock K20, a high-compression K24, or a fully built turbocharged setup, KPro provides the tuning flexibility needed to maximize power, drivability, and reliability. Its USB connectivity, real-time tuning capabilities, and extensive diagnostic functions make it a favorite among both professional tuners and weekend builders.

Every Hondata KPRO MUST use the 02-04 engine wiring harness. This ECU will control both K20 and K24 engines as long as they use the 02-04 (K20A style) wiring. These ECUs do NOT convert CSS to VSS, so we suggest using a VSS converter if you are using an 06+ CSS transmission.
Hondata KPRO Buying Options:
1. I'll send my own core ECU
This selection means the customer will provide the OEM Honda ECU core for the Hondata KPRO V4 to be installed into. Hybrid Racing and Hondata share no responsibility in confirming the ECU is compatible. Hondata will bench test your ECU and confirm it works before installing the KPRO. If the ECU is no good, the customer assumes all costs in returning and replacing the ECU. Hondata DOES NOT install KPRO into ECUs that do not pass function tests.
2. Converted Auto Core ECUs for Manual K-Swaps (Auto PND ECU)
This means the ECU Hybrid Racing supplied to the customer is an automatic-based ECU, converted to operate like a 5-spd PND ECU. This conversion is done by Hondata. The ECU will no longer work as an automatic-based ECU, meaning the software on the ECU will only work with a car equipped with a manual transmission ECU. This is ideal for customers using a 5spd transmission, or for those looking to get the full KPRO unit already installed at the lowest cost. The KPRO board and software in this ECU is the same as ALL OTHER VERSIONS.
There are two things to note when it comes to using a converted ECU.
You must connect the VSS wire directly to the KPRO board inputs.
Because the ECU does not have the same VSS circuitry on board, customers using this type of ECU must connect the VSS input directly to the KPRO board through the included wiring connector.
Reverse Lockout (for 6-spd transmissions) will need to be wired in.
If using a 6spd transmission, the reverse lockout won't work unless you change the pin on the ECU connector and update the software settings. You must use a 6-spd engine harness with connections for the reverse lockout solenoid. You must then make sure those connections are terminated correctly, and the ECU is using an extra output as a reverse lockout solenoid.
3. 5-spd Manual Core ECU Included:
This option means the KPRO you purchase from us will be installed in a factory 5-spd ECU core. No conversion of the VSS will be necessary. You will still need to wire in the reverse lockout function, so refer to the section above. This is the best option for customers using a 5-speed transmission.
4. 6-spd PRB Core Included
The final option is to have the Hondata KPRO V4 installed in an 02-04 RSX Type S ECU core. This ECU has the VSS and reverse lockout circuits already installed, so there is no extra wiring or setting changes needed. This is the best option for those wanting the easiest, most compatible KPRO available.
