SpeedFactory Side Inlet/Outlet Front Mount Intercooler
Side inlet, side outlet, and that's the whole reason to pick this one. SpeedFactory's HP SS-1000 puts both connections on the sides of the end tanks instead of the ends, which is what makes it work in a car where the space in front of the radiator support is tight and there's nowhere to run piping out the ends. Rated 850 to 1000 horsepower, and SpeedFactory positions it for street and race use both, not competition only.
What It Is and Why It Works
The core is 3.5 inches thick, bar and plate construction, with a staggered fin arrangement SpeedFactory specified to cool efficiently without creating the pressure drop that a dense core normally brings with it. That trade is the actual engineering problem on any intercooler: you can always cool more by making the air work harder to get through, and you pay for it in spool and response. Bar and plate cores handle heat load better than tube and fin under sustained boost, which is why they show up on builds that see repeated hard pulls rather than one clean pass.
The end tanks are hand formed in house at SpeedFactory from 5052 H32 aluminum and fully TIG welded. That's the part that separates this from an eBay cooler with the same advertised core size: somebody built these tanks, and the side outlet geometry was shaped deliberately rather than punched wherever was convenient.
Inlet and outlet are both 3 inch bead rolled tube ends, so your couplers have something to grab. M8x1.25mm aluminum mounting bungs come attached, and the SpeedFactory logo is stenciled on the core face.

Fitment
Universal. There's no chassis list here because this cooler doesn't care what car it goes in; it cares whether it physically fits the space you have and whether your piping can reach the side connections. Measure your opening before you order, and plan where the charge pipes run on both sides before you commit to the layout.
The side inlet and outlet configuration is what you're choosing here. If your build has room to run piping straight off the ends of the tanks, an end-tank cooler will do the job with fewer bends. If you're fighting for space, particularly on a swapped chassis where the front end is already crowded, the side connections are what make the install possible at all.
What to Know Before You Buy
This is a bare intercooler, not a kit. No charge piping, no couplers, no clamps, no brackets beyond the mounting bungs. Anyone shopping a universal cooler at this power level is already fabricating, but budget for it: pipe, bends, silicone, clamps, and the time to make it all clear the crash bar.
SpeedFactory builds these to order, so this isn't a same-day-shipping part. Contact us before ordering if you need a current lead time and we'll check where their queue stands.
Vibrant Performance Vanjen clamps are available on this intercooler with the flanges welded on before it ships. That gets arranged before the order goes in rather than after, so reach out first if you want them. At 850 to 1000 horsepower and the boost that comes with it, Vanjen connections are worth the conversation.
Be honest about your power target. The 850 to 1000HP rating means the core has capacity for that range; it doesn't mean bolting it on gets you there. If your build is making 500 or 600, a smaller cooler will spool quicker and cost less. If you're heading past 1000 and building a dedicated drag car, SpeedFactory's 6 inch SFWD and AWD cooler is the bigger brother, and the extra thickness is where you go next.
