Rywire B-Series OBD2 Budget Tucked Engine Harness - Civic, CRX, Del Sol & Integra
If your B-series is running OBD2 components, this is your harness. Same Rywire budget tucked construction that people build clean engine bays around, just terminated for OBD2 distributor, injector, and alternator plugs on the engine side. You get a tidy, tucked loom with no wiring hanging over the motor, built to the same standards as Rywire's Mil-spec line with single-color black wire and expandable loom keeping the cost down. Clean bay, solid wiring, no compromise on how it's actually made.
OBD1 Or OBD2? Here's How To Tell
Get this right first, because it's the whole decision. The difference between this harness and the OBD1 version isn't your car's year, it's the components bolted to your engine. This OBD2 harness has plugs for OBD2 distributor, injector, and alternator connectors. If your engine is running OBD1 versions of those parts, you want the OBD1 harness instead. Go look at what's actually on your motor rather than assuming based on the chassis, especially if the engine came from another car, which on a swap it usually did. Two minutes under the hood now beats a harness with the wrong plugs on it.
Your ECU Plugs Are Still OBD1, And That's On Purpose
This surprises people, so let's be clear. Every Rywire engine harness, including this OBD2 one, is built with OBD1 (92-95) computer connectors. That's deliberate, OBD1 ECUs are what most of this crowd tunes on. If you're running an OBD2 computer, a plug adapter handles the connection, but here's the hard limit worth tattooing somewhere: this harness does not support USDM OBD2 computers. Aftermarket computers using OBD2 plugs and non-US OBD2 computers work fine, except for stock H22 and GSR computers. Confirm exactly which ECU you're running before ordering, because this is where builds stall out.
The Sub-Harness Setup Saves You Money Later
Here's a genuinely clever piece of how these are built. The back-side sub-harness, the section running to your interior and shock tower, is chassis-specific and detaches from the main harness. Move your engine from one car to another down the road and you don't buy a new loom, you just get the sub-harness for the new chassis. Anyone who's swapped shells or sold a project and kept the drivetrain knows how much that's worth. You pick your chassis when you order and Rywire builds the matching sub-harness.
How These Are Actually Built
"Budget" describes the wire color and loom, not the workmanship. Every connector and material is brand new. Each one is crimped with pneumatic heads for a true OEM-grade crimp every time, which is what keeps you from chasing an intermittent connection two years into owning the car. Heavy interference circuits are properly covered and grounded. Every harness gets tested 100% pin to pin and resistance checked before it leaves, and every connector is tagged with a white ID label so the install is obvious instead of a guessing game.
Fits The Golden Era Lineup
Pick your chassis at checkout and the sub-harness is built to suit:
| Make | Model | Years |
|---|---|---|
| Honda | Civic | 1988-2000 |
| Honda | CRX | 1988-1991 |
| Honda | Del Sol | 1993-1997 |
| Acura | Integra | 1990-2001 |
What's On The Harness
Everything a running B-series needs, terminated and labeled:
- Injectors 1-4 and OBD2 distributor plugs
- Alternator, starter signal, and power distribution cap
- MAP sensor, TPS, IAT (intake manifold style), and knock sensor
- Primary 4-wire oxygen sensor
- Idle control motor and VTEC solenoid
- Engine coolant temp, H2O sending unit (gauge cluster), and oil pressure sending unit
- Electronic speed sensor, fan switch, and reverse lights
- ECU plugs A, B, and D
- Ground and two extra wires
Before You Plug It In
Honest note on the policy: these are warrantied and guaranteed to work, but non-refundable once installed. That's normal for built-to-order wiring, and it's the reason the OBD1-versus-OBD2 check and the ECU question above deserve your attention before you click buy rather than after.
Who Should Run This Harness
This is for the builder running OBD2 engine components who wants a tucked, professionally built harness without stepping up to Mil-spec pricing. New connectors, real crimps, actual testing, and labels that make sense when you're elbow-deep in the bay. Check your distributor and injector plugs, confirm your ECU, pick your chassis, and get your build wired right.
