PRL Motorsports Coolant Expansion Tank - FK8/FL5 Type R / DE5 Type S
Factory plastic coolant expansion tank cracking on your Type R or Integra Type S? The PRL Motorsports aluminum expansion tank replaces the fragile factory plastic tank with a CNC machined 6061 aluminum unit that won't crack from heat cycles or high boost. It holds 1.32 quarts compared to the factory tank's 0.58 quarts, so you've got more than double the coolant capacity. More coolant means better heat dissipation, which matters if you're tracking the car or running higher boost. Available in black or red anodized finish.
Why the Factory Tank Fails
The factory expansion tank is plastic and it sits right next to the turbo where it gets heat soaked constantly. Over time, the plastic gets brittle from heat cycles and it cracks. When it cracks, you're leaking coolant and overheating. The PRL tank's made from 3mm thick 6061 aluminum, so it's not going to crack from heat or pressure. It's TIG welded with billet machined fittings and it's got Buna-N O-rings that handle high temps without leaking.
Doubles Your Coolant Capacity
The PRL tank holds 1.32 quarts versus the factory tank's 0.58 quarts. That's more than double the capacity. More coolant in the system means it takes longer for temps to climb under load, and the system can dissipate more heat between pulls. If you're tracking the car or running higher boost than stock, the extra capacity helps keep temps in check.
Internal Baffling and Sight Glass
The tank's got internal baffling to reduce coolant slosh and prevent cavitation when you're cornering hard. It's also got a built-in sight glass so you can check your coolant level without pulling the cap off. Just look at the sight glass and you know where you're at.
Plug-and-Play Installation
The kit includes all the fittings you need for installation. It's a direct replacement for the factory tank, so you're not fabricating brackets or re-routing hoses. Unbolt the factory tank, bolt this one in, connect the hoses, and you're done.
