PRODUCT DETAILS
If you're building a B18C1 or B18C5 VTEC engine for street, track, or full-on competition, the rod bearings you choose will directly affect how long that build holds together under load. King's XP-Series rod bearings are one of the most spec'd choices in the B-series community for a reason - the tri-metal construction handles the kind of sustained high-RPM punishment that OEM bearings and most budget aftermarket options simply aren't designed for.
The XP-Series material stack gives you a copper-lead intermediate layer bonded to a steel backing, topped with a specialized overlay that improves both load capacity and fatigue resistance. What that means for your build: tighter, more consistent sizing out of the box, better oil film retention at high RPM, and a bearing that holds up under the heat cycles and cylinder pressures you'll see in modified B18C applications - forced induction, aggressive cams, high-compression naturally aspirated builds.
King specifically recommends these bearings for use with steel crankshafts and high-output applications including circuit racing, time attack, and endurance builds. The consistent dimensional tolerances mean you spend less time at the plastigauge stage and more time confident in your clearances.
These are the King CR4287XP rod bearings. Available in two sizes to cover standard bores and engines that have been line-honed or previously run an oversized bearing:
- STDX (0.005" / 0.127mm thinner than standard) - Part No. KEB-PRB-01-05 - for engines running tight clearance builds or where slight oil clearance adjustment is needed
- +0.25mm Oversize - Part No. KEB-PRB-01-06 - for engines where the rod journals have been machined or where a previous oversize bearing was run
Not sure which size you need? Measure your rod journal diameter and compare against King's published oil clearance spec of 0.001"-0.003" (0.025-0.076mm) for street and performance use. When in doubt, consult your machine shop before ordering.
Fitment: B18C1 and B18C5 engines - 1,797cc DOHC VTEC 16-valve. Fits 1994-2001 Acura Integra GS-R and Type R.
Fits the following B18C VTEC engines and vehicles:
- Honda / Acura B18C1 engine - 1,797cc DOHC VTEC 16V (Acura Integra GS-R, 1994-2001)
- Honda / Acura B18C5 engine - 1,797cc DOHC VTEC 16V (Acura Integra Type R, 1997-2001)
Compatible with standard steel crankshafts. King recommends these bearings for steel crank applications only. Not for use with billet or aluminum crankshafts unless confirmed with your machine shop.
If your engine has been rebuilt with machined rod journals, select the +0.25mm oversize (KEB-PRB-01-06). For standard bore engines or builds requiring reduced oil clearance, select STDX (KEB-PRB-01-05).
