Honda Shin-Etsu Grease 08798-9013 - The OEM Fix for Tired Rubber Seals

If your Honda's door seals are stiff, your S2000 soft top is dripping when it rains, or your trunk seal makes that awful squeak every time you open the lid - this is the tube you need. Honda Shin-Etsu Grease (part number 08798-9013) is the exact silicone compound Honda dealerships use to restore and protect rubber seals. Not a knockoff, not an "equivalent" - the actual OEM product.

Rubber dries out. It's not a question of if, it's when. UV exposure, temperature swings, and age cause weatherstripping to harden, shrink, and crack. Once that happens, you get water drips inside the cabin, wind noise on the highway, and that sticky-then-suddenly-unstuck feeling when you open a door. A light application of Shin-Etsu works the silicone into the rubber and brings it back. It won't resurrect seals that are physically torn, but if your rubber is just dried out and hardened, this stuff is genuinely impressive.

It's especially popular on Golden Era Hondas - EG, EK, DC chassis and the like - and the S2000. S2000 owners know the convertible top seals are a weak point on older cars. A tube of this and 20 minutes of work can stop a slow leak that's been driving you nuts for months. It works on modern Hondas and Acuras just as well, so keep a tube in the garage regardless of what you're driving.

Apply it with a clean cloth or your finger along the full length of the seal, work it in, wipe off the excess. That's it. You don't need to be a tech to do this right.

What It's Good For:

  • Genuine Honda OEM silicone grease - part number 08798-9013
  • Restores dried, hardened, and shrinking rubber seals and weatherstripping
  • Stops water leaks and wind noise caused by failing door and trunk seals
  • Essential maintenance for S2000 convertible top seals
  • Works on all Honda and Acura chassis - Golden Era through current generation
  • Safe for rubber and plastic - won't cause swelling, cracking, or degradation
  • Non-toxic, long-lasting formula - same compound used at Honda dealers worldwide

If you're doing a full rubber refresh on an older Honda, pair this with new weatherstripping for the best result. The grease will maintain good seals - it won't fix ones that are already physically damaged.

This is a universal product compatible with all Honda and Acura vehicles. It's especially common on Golden Era Honda chassis (EG, EK, EF, DA, DC, and related platforms) and the Honda S2000 (AP1/AP2), where convertible top seal maintenance is critical. Also suitable for modern Honda and Acura models - any vehicle with rubber door seals, trunk seals, window channels, or weatherstripping.
