PRODUCT DETAILS

Honda K24Z R40 Intake Manifold Gasket - 17055-R40A01

You're pulling your intake manifold off to do spark plugs, injector work, or cleaning and you need a fresh intake manifold gasket? Part number 17055-R40A01 is the OEM intake manifold gasket for K24Z and K24Y engines. This gasket seals your intake manifold to the cylinder head and prevents vacuum leaks. When you unbolt the intake manifold and break that seal, the old gasket's done. Don't reuse it. A reused intake manifold gasket won't seal properly and you're getting vacuum leaks. Fresh gasket seals everything up tight and keeps your engine running right.

Here's Why You Never Reuse These

Intake manifold gaskets are designed to compress when you torque the manifold down. Once they've been compressed and the manifold's been unbolted, the gasket material's already taken a set. It's molded to the shape of the mating surfaces. When you try to reuse it, it won't seal evenly. You're getting vacuum leaks at the manifold. Small vacuum leaks cause rough idle, high idle, hesitation, and sometimes check engine lights with lean codes. Bigger leaks and your engine's running terrible. The gasket costs a few bucks. Don't try to save money by reusing the old one and end up chasing vacuum leaks for weeks after you put everything back together. Just replace it every time you pull the manifold off.

Stamped Steel Construction

This gasket's made from stamped steel, not paper or composite material like some older gaskets. Steel gaskets are more durable and they seal better under the clamping pressure of the intake manifold bolts. They don't tear or fall apart when you're removing them like paper gaskets do. The steel construction also handles heat cycling better. Your intake manifold heats up and cools down constantly. Steel gaskets expand and contract with the metal parts and maintain the seal. Composite gaskets can dry out and crack over time. Steel gaskets last longer and seal more consistently.

Required Anytime You Pull the Intake Manifold

If you're doing spark plugs on these K24Z engines, you're pulling the intake manifold off to get to the plugs. You need this gasket. If you're replacing fuel injectors, cleaning the intake runners, doing valve cover work, or swapping intake manifolds, you need this gasket. Anytime the intake manifold comes off, fresh gasket goes on. Add it to your parts list before you start the job. Don't get halfway through and realize you don't have a gasket. You're stuck with the car torn apart waiting on a three dollar part. Have it on hand before you start wrenching.

Note: Replace this gasket every time you remove the intake manifold. When you're installing it, clean both mating surfaces completely. Position the gasket on the head, set the intake manifold on top, and start all the bolts finger tight. Torque the manifold bolts to spec in the sequence shown in your service manual, usually around 16 ft-lbs. After you've reassembled everything, start the engine and check for vacuum leaks. Listen for hissing around the manifold. If you've got leaks, you either didn't clean the surfaces properly or the gasket's not seated right.
