PRODUCT DETAILS

Honda L/R Series Clutch Release Fork Boot - 22841-RPF-000

Got transmission fluid leaking from your bellhousing near the clutch fork? Your clutch release fork boot's probably torn. The Honda clutch release fork boot (part number 22841-RPF-000) seals the opening in your bellhousing where your clutch release fork goes through. The fork's got to move in and out to actuate your clutch, so there's an opening in the bellhousing for it. The rubber boot seals that opening so transmission fluid doesn't leak out. When the boot gets old and cracks, transmission fluid leaks out through the opening. If your clutch release fork boot's torn or it's leaking, replace it before you lose all your transmission fluid.

Here's What This Boot Does

Your clutch release fork sits inside your bellhousing and it actuates your clutch. One end of the fork's inside the bellhousing pushing on your throwout bearing, and the other end sticks out through an opening in the bellhousing. That opening's where your clutch cable or hydraulic line connects to the fork. The rubber boot seals that opening so transmission fluid doesn't leak out. When the boot gets old from heat cycles, it cracks and tears. Once it's torn, transmission fluid leaks out through the opening. You'll see fluid dripping from the bellhousing area or you'll notice your transmission fluid level's low when you check it.

Replace It Before You Lose All Your Fluid

If your clutch release fork boot's leaking, replace it as soon as you can. The leak starts small, but it gets worse over time as the boot tears more. If you ignore it and keep driving, you'll eventually run your transmission low on fluid. Running a manual transmission low on fluid damages the synchros and bearings. The boot's cheap and it takes maybe 10 minutes to replace. Don't wait until you've damaged your transmission.
