PRODUCT DETAILS

Honda GE Fit/CR-Z Spool Valve Filter - 15825-RB0-003

If your L15 Fit or CR-Z is running rough, lacking power, or throwing VTEC-related codes, the spool valve filter's probably clogged or the screen's torn. The Honda spool valve filter (part number 15825-RB0-003) sits inside the VTEC spool valve and filters oil before it goes to the valve timing mechanism. When the filter gets clogged with sludge or the screen tears, oil flow to the valve timing system gets restricted or contaminated. Your engine won't run right and you'll lose power. Swapping in a new spool valve filter brings valve timing operation back to how Honda designed it.

Here's What This Filter Does

The spool valve filter sits inside your VTEC spool valve (also called the VTEC solenoid). Oil flows through the filter before it goes to the valve timing mechanism. The filter's got a fine mesh screen that catches debris and sludge so clean oil reaches your valve timing system. When the filter gets clogged from dirty oil or extended oil change intervals, oil flow gets restricted. Your valve timing won't operate properly and you'll get rough running, loss of power, and potential check engine lights. If the screen tears from age or corrosion, debris gets past the filter and contaminates the valve timing mechanism. You'll get the same symptoms: rough running and loss of power.

Replace It If You're Getting Rough Running or Power Loss

If your Fit or CR-Z is running rough, lacking power at certain RPM ranges, or you're getting check engine codes related to valve timing, check this filter first. Pull your spool valve out and inspect the filter. If it's clogged with sludge or the screen's torn, replace it. The filter's cheap and it takes five minutes to swap. If you ignore it and keep driving with a clogged filter, you're starving your valve timing mechanism of oil and you'll wear out internal components.
