PRODUCT DETAILS

Honda EF/EM2 Civic/CRX Manual Window Crank - 72014-SH3-305

Your Civic or CRX's window crank is cracked, the knob's missing, or someone lost it completely and you're stuck rolling the window up and down with pliers? Part number 72014-SH3-305 is the OEM manual window crank that Honda put on base model Civics, CRXs, and Accords from the 80s through the early 2000s. This is the grey plastic crank with the brushed aluminum or textured plastic cover on the knob. It mounts to the window regulator mechanism inside your door and lets you roll the window up and down like it's 1988. If you've got a DX, STD, or HX model without power windows, this is what you need when your crank's broken or missing. Sold individually so order one for each door that needs it.

Here's Why Your Crank's Probably Broken

Manual window cranks take a beating. You're cranking the window up and down every day for years. The plastic gets brittle from heat and age. Eventually someone cranks it too hard trying to get a stuck window closed and the crank snaps. Or the knob falls off and gets lost under the seat or kicked out of the car. Some cranks just wear out where they mount to the regulator shaft and they strip out. Now you're spinning the crank but the window's not moving. The worst is when the whole crank's missing and you're trying to roll the window with pliers or vise grips clamped onto the regulator shaft. That works until it rains and you can't get the window back up.

Grey Plastic with Brushed Aluminum/Textured Plastic Insert

This crank's grey plastic with a textured finish. The knob's got a brushed aluminum or textured grey plastic insert cover that gives it some visual interest. It's not fancy but it's what came on these cars from the factory. If you're restoring a base model Civic or CRX and you want it to look stock, this is the correct crank. The grey matches the factory door panels on DX and STD models. If someone swapped in a black aftermarket crank or you've got mismatched cranks from different cars, this gets your interior looking right again.

Fits Multiple Generations of Base Model Hondas

Honda used this same window crank across a bunch of different models for like 20+ years. If you had a base model Civic, CRX, or Accord without power windows, you probably got this crank. It fits 80s Accords, EF Civics and CRXs from the late 80s and early 90s, and even the EM2 Civic coupes from the early 2000s. Honda kept using the same manual window regulator design so the crank stayed the same. That's why one part number covers so many different cars. If your car originally came with manual windows, this crank fits.

Note: This crank's sold individually so if you need all four windows done, order four. When you're installing it, make sure the regulator shaft is clean. If there's dirt or rust on the shaft, the crank won't grip properly and it'll slip. The crank pushes onto the shaft with a friction fit. There's a set screw that locks it in place. Tighten the set screw but don't crank it down so hard you strip it out. Snug is enough. After you've installed the crank, test the window. Roll it all the way up and all the way down to make sure the crank's not slipping on the shaft. If it's slipping, the set screw's not tight enough or the shaft's worn out. If the shaft's damaged or the splines are stripped, you'll need to replace the whole window regulator. The crank won't fix a broken regulator. Before you order this crank, make sure your car actually has manual windows. Some Si models and higher trims came with power windows. If you've got power windows, you don't need a crank. Check your door panels. If there's no crank hole, you've got power windows.
