Honda 06-11 Civic Si/07-08 TL Type S Pedal Cover - 6545-SNV-A21

Your brake or clutch pedal's worn so smooth your foot's slipping off during hard stops or quick shifts? Part number 6545-SNV-A21 is the OEM pedal cover that Honda put on every Civic Si and TL Type S from the factory. This is the aluminum cover with the rubber insert that goes over your brake and clutch pedals. After years of your shoe grinding on it, the rubber wears down to nothing and you're left with slippery smooth aluminum. Your foot slides around when you're braking hard or working the clutch and it feels sketchy. Fresh pedal cover brings the grip back. Each cover comes with the aluminum piece, rubber insert, and three rivets to attach it to your pedal. They're sold individually so if both your brake and clutch pedals look like hell, order two.

Here's What Happens to Your Pedals

You've put 100k miles on your Civic Si or TL Type S. Every single time you press the brake or clutch, your shoe's wearing down the rubber on the pedal cover. The rubber gets thinner and thinner until it's basically gone. Now you're pressing directly on smooth aluminum. When your shoe's wet or you're wearing the wrong shoes, your foot just slides right off. Try to brake hard from highway speeds or dump the clutch for a launch and your foot's slipping all over the place. That's not just annoying, it's dangerous. You can't modulate the pedal properly if your foot's not gripping it. The pedal cover's a consumable part like brake pads. It wears out, you replace it.

Don't Try to Band-Aid It

Some people try to glue grip tape onto their worn pedals or wrap them with skateboard tape. It looks terrible and it doesn't last. The tape peels off after a few months and now you've got sticky residue all over your pedal. Just replace the cover with an OEM one. You get the aluminum frame, the molded rubber insert, and three rivets. Pop the old cover off, rivet the new one on, you're done in ten minutes. Your pedal looks factory fresh and actually works the way it's supposed to.

Fits Both Brake and Clutch

This same cover fits over both your brake pedal and your clutch pedal. They're the same part. If you're replacing one, you might as well do both while you're at it. They've both been getting beaten up for the same amount of time. Your brake pedal's worn, your clutch pedal's probably not far behind. Order two covers, replace both, and you won't have one fresh pedal and one that looks like it's been through a war. Takes maybe twenty minutes to do both pedals and you need a rivet gun. If you don't have one, borrow one or grab a cheap hand rivet tool. They're like twenty bucks.

Note: You need a rivet gun to install these covers. Don't try to use bolts or screws instead of the rivets. They won't hold the cover tight enough and it'll wiggle around while you're driving. A loose pedal cover's a safety issue. Your foot can slip and you're not able to control the pedal properly. When you're riveting the cover on, make sure all three rivets are set flush. If one's loose or sticking out, redo it. After you've installed the cover, press on it with your hand and make sure it's not moving. If it shifts at all, the rivets aren't set right. Pull it off and start over. Before you install the new cover, look at your actual pedal arm underneath. If your old cover was completely worn through and you've been pressing on bare metal for a while, the pedal arm might have grooves worn into it. If the pedal surface is damaged, the new cover won't sit flat and it won't rivet properly. You'll need to replace the whole pedal assembly. Most of the time the pedal's fine and you just need the new cover. But check it first so you're not wasting time trying to rivet a cover onto a damaged pedal.
