HKS Hi-Power Axle-Back Exhaust - 2018-2020 Honda Fit Sport
Your GK5 Fit Sport's more fun than it has any right to be but the stock exhaust sounds like Honda didn't want you to enjoy it. You've got a 6-speed manual and a rev-happy L15B and the exhaust note's just... boring. HKS's Hi-Power axle-back replaces your rear muffler section with SUS304 stainless steel and a 94mm carbon fiber tip. You're getting an exhaust that looks like it belongs on a car you actually chose instead of the invisible muffler Honda gave you. This is part number 32016-KH001 and it's designed specifically for the Fit Sport. It's not a universal muffler. HKS built this for the L15B's exhaust characteristics.
Here's What It Actually Sounds Like
HKS tuned this exhaust specifically for the L15B's 1.5-liter naturally aspirated setup. On a small-displacement NA engine like this, exhaust tuning matters more than just slapping on a bigger pipe. Get it wrong and you end up with a buzzy, raspy mess that makes your Fit sound like a lawnmower that's mad at you. HKS got it right. The tone's a low, clean burble at idle. It deepens on deceleration and downshifts. It's present without being obnoxious at cruise and it builds with the revs instead of droning at highway speed. People consistently describe it as "not too loud, not too quiet." On a manual Fit Sport, it gets more vocal above 3,000 RPM. That's exactly where you want it when you're wringing out the L15B through the gears. If you've got a CVT Fit Sport, it's mellower because the engine doesn't spend as much time at high RPM.
Let's Be Honest About Cabin Noise
The Fit's not a quiet car to begin with. Road noise, wind noise, engine noise, that's all part of the GK5 experience. This exhaust adds to the cabin volume, especially on the highway. If you want your Fit to sound better from outside but stay whisper-quiet inside, that's not what any axle-back's going to do. You're hearing this exhaust inside the car. Some people love that. Some people don't. Know what you're getting into before you order.
Installation's Easy But Watch the Bolts
Installation's about as simple as exhaust work gets. You're removing two bolts and pulling off two rubber exhaust hangers. Then you're doing the reverse with the HKS unit. Twenty to 30 minutes. The one snag most people hit is the factory hardware. If your Fit's seen a few winters or lives somewhere humid, those stock bolts are seized. Hit them with penetrating oil the night before or you're going to be fighting them. HKS specifies 19.6 to 24.5 Nm torque on the mounting bolts. Some owners have noticed the HKS pipe's slightly smaller in diameter than the stock midpipe at the connection point. It seals fine. Doesn't cause leaks. But if you're the type who inspects everything from underneath, you'll see the size difference at the junction. It's not visible from behind the car so it doesn't matter for looks.
Ground Clearance and Fitment Notes
If you're running lowered suspension, check your ground clearance after install. HKS designed this for stock ride height and the muffler hangs slightly different from the OEM unit. Some owners on stock suspension have also found that slightly longer rubber exhaust hangers (about half an inch longer than stock) keep the tip positioned better in the bumper cutout. If your tip's not sitting centered or it's hanging too low, try longer hangers before you start bending things.
Power Gains? No. Sound and Looks? Yes.
Let's be real. This is an axle-back on a 130 hp economy car. You're not picking up meaningful horsepower from a muffler swap. The L15B breathes fine stock and the restriction in the OEM system's mostly in the catalytic converter and midpipe. This exhaust doesn't touch those. What you're getting is sound, appearance, and the satisfaction of having an exhaust that matches how the car feels to drive. If that's what you're after, HKS is the right choice for the GK5. It's purpose-built for this car instead of a generic universal muffler and the SUS304 stainless construction and carbon fiber tip are way better than the cheap options.

Note: This exhaust is ONLY for the Fit Sport trim - does NOT fit Fit LX, EX, or EX-L (those trims use different HKS Silent Hi-Power version, part number 32016-AH031). Sport trim has different rear bumper and exhaust routing. Not compatible with Mugen rear under spoilers. Axle-back replaces rear muffler section only (does not replace catalytic converter or midpipe). Adds cabin noise especially at highway speeds - Fit is not a quiet car to begin with and this exhaust makes it louder inside. If you want better sound outside but quiet inside, this won't do that. Manual transmission Fit Sports get more vocal above 3,000 RPM. CVT Fit Sports are mellower (engine doesn't spend as much time at high RPM). Factory mounting bolts often seized on older cars or cars in humid/winter climates - use penetrating oil night before installation. HKS pipe slightly smaller diameter than stock midpipe at connection point (seals fine, no leaks, not visible from behind car). If running lowered suspension, check ground clearance after install (designed for stock ride height). Some owners on stock suspension use slightly longer rubber exhaust hangers (about 0.5 inch longer than stock) to position tip better in bumper cutout. Torque mounting bolts to 19.6-24.5 Nm. No significant horsepower gains (restriction in OEM system is catalytic converter and midpipe, not muffler). Purpose-built for GK5 Fit Sport L15B, not universal muffler. SUS304 stainless construction and carbon fiber tip higher quality than cheap alternatives.
