Golden Era Parts Rear Hatch Side Weatherstrip - 1988-1991 Honda Civic Hatchback (EF)
Take a look at the edges of your rear hatch glass where it meets the quarter panels. If that rubber's cracked, shrunk, or peeling away, that's this part, and Honda hasn't made it in decades. Golden Era Parts built this one to fix that gap. They modeled it off genuine OEM parts, so it fits and seals like the seals your EF hatch came with, not some generic strip cut close enough and called good.
What These Seals Are Actually Doing
These two strips run right between your rear glass and the quarter panels, one on each side, and they're doing more work than people realize. They seal out water and wind, and they're also what keeps your rear glass from rattling against the body every time you hit a bump. Once the rubber dries out and shrinks, that seal opens up. You'll hear it as wind noise around the back glass, or you'll notice water getting into the hatch area after it rains and you can't figure out where it's coming from. On a car this old, that's just the rubber finally giving up after thirty-plus years, and it's an easy fix once you've got the right part.
Built From The Real Thing, Both Sides Included
Golden Era Parts didn't eyeball this one, they built it off actual OEM parts, so it replicates Honda part numbers 73271-SH3-003 and 73278-SH3-003, the left and right rear hatch side seals. You're getting both sides in the kit, and the ends are cut the same way Honda cut them, so they tuck into place the way the originals did instead of leaving a gap or an awkward overlap at the corners.
Comes With The Tape Already On It
One thing that makes this an easier job than it sounds: each seal comes with 3M double-sided tape already applied. Clean the mounting surface, peel the backing, and press the seal into place. No extra adhesive to buy, no guessing how much to use, and no mess. That's most of the install right there.
Make Sure This Is Your Civic
This kit is built for the 1988-1991 Honda Civic EF hatchback, and that's it. It won't fit the wagon or the sedan from this generation, those body styles use different rear glass and different seals entirely. If you're not sure which body style you've got, double-check before you order so you're not sending a perfectly good seal back.
