Exedy OEM Clutch Slave Cylinder for F and H-Series - Part #SC642

The slave on an F or H-series car sits low on the bellhousing where heat and road spray get to it, so it's usually the first hydraulic part to leak. If your Prelude or Accord has a pedal that won't hold pressure, or a system that pulls air back in no matter how many times you bleed it, Exedy's SC642 is the OE-style replacement and it costs less than a takeout lunch.

What It Is and Why It Works

The slave takes pressure from the master and pushes the release fork. When the cup seal wears, fluid bypasses the piston, the pedal loses its firmness, and the release point drifts. External leaks show up as a wet transmission case and a dropping reservoir. Neither gets better on its own.

SC642 is a straight OE-style unit with the stock bore, pushrod and bolt pattern, so release travel stays factory. Anodized aluminum body, honed bore, EPDM seals. Exedy GlobalParts is Honda's OE clutch supplier; the part in the Honda box comes off the same line.

What to Know Before You Buy

Replace the master with it if it's original: Exedy MC234. New slave against an old master is the classic can't-bleed-it setup.

Bleed with fresh DOT 3. Pedal down, crack the bleeder, close it, pedal up, repeat. If it never firms up, the master is bypassing.

Grease the release fork pivot while the slave is off. A dry pivot makes the pedal feel notchy and gets blamed on the new cylinder.
