AEM V3 Multi-Input Water/Methanol Injection Kit

Building a high-boost turbo setup and hitting knock limits? AEM's V3 water/methanol injection kit sprays a water/methanol mixture into your intake to cool your intake charge and suppress detonation. When you're running high boost, your intake air temps go up and you start knocking. Water/meth cools the intake charge down and raises your effective octane, which lets you run more boost and more timing without detonation. You can make up to 20% more power on pump gas with water/meth compared to pump gas alone. This is the multi-input version, which works with external MAP sensors for ultra-high boost setups over 35 PSI.

What Water/Methanol Injection Does

Water/methanol injection cools your intake charge and raises your effective octane. Here's how it works: when you spray a water/methanol mixture into your intake, the water evaporates and cools the air. Cooler air's more dense, which makes more power. The methanol also raises your effective octane, which suppresses detonation. That lets you run more boost and more aggressive timing without knock. The combination of cooler intake temps and higher effective octane lets you make way more power on pump gas than you could without water/meth. If you're running E85 or race gas, water/meth still helps because it cools the intake charge even more.

Multi-Input Controller for High-Boost Setups

This is AEM's multi-input controller, which works with 0-5 volt external MAP sensors. If you're running over 35 PSI of boost, you need the multi-input controller. AEM also makes a boost-dependent controller with an on-board MAP sensor for setups under 35 PSI, but that controller maxes out at 35 PSI. The multi-input controller doesn't have that limit. You wire in your own external MAP sensor and the controller reads the voltage signal to control water/meth flow progressively based on boost pressure.

Boost Safe Failsafe System

The AEM controller's got a Boost Safe failsafe output that monitors the injection system for voltage-related errors like shorts, bad connections, broken wires, or low fluid. If the controller detects an error, it triggers a ground signal that you can wire to a warning light, or you can wire it to your ECU to pull boost or switch to a safe fuel map. If you're running high boost and your water/meth system fails, you're knocking immediately. The Boost Safe output lets you protect your motor when the water/meth system's not working.

Heavy-Duty Pump and Billet Injector

The kit includes AEM's recirculation-style water/meth pump, which is waterproof and quiet. The pump's internally bypassed, so it doesn't cycle on and off. It just runs continuously and recirculates fluid when it's not injecting. The kit also includes a machined billet aluminum injector with an integral check valve to prevent unintended flow. The check valve prevents water/meth from dripping into your intake when the system's off. The kit includes three interchangeable nozzles (250cc/min, 500cc/min, and 1000cc/min) to cover different horsepower levels.

When to Use Water/Methanol Injection

Note: This is the multi-input controller for setups over 35 PSI using an external MAP sensor. If you're running under 35 PSI, AEM makes a boost-dependent controller (PN 30-3300) with an on-board MAP sensor. AEM recommends using an inline filter (PN 30-3003) with all water/meth systems. If your pump and tank are mounted higher than the injection nozzle, AEM recommends adding a high-flow solenoid (PN 30-3326) to prevent unintended flow. Mix your water/meth at the correct ratio for your application. Common ratios are 50/50 water/methanol or 60/40 water/methanol. Get your car retuned after installing water/meth injection. Your AFR targets and timing will be different with water/meth.
