Genuine Acura Oil Filter (15400-PL2-306) - NSX, Legend & TL
If you do your own oil changes on an NSX, this is the filter Acura specified for it. It's a physically larger filter than the ones Honda uses across most of their lineup, with a bigger base and more media, which is what the C30A and C32B were designed around. It's Not The Same As A Standard Honda Filter
Worth understanding, because this catches people out.
Most Hondas and Acuras take one of the common small filters, the PCX or the newer RTA. This one is different. It's a larger filter with a bigger base and more filtration media, sized for the V6 rather than the four-cylinders those smaller filters serve.
So if you've got other Hondas in the driveway and you're used to grabbing the usual filter, don't. The NSX takes its own, and using a smaller filter because it threads on isn't the same as using the right one.
Buy Four And Be Done For A While
Worth considering if you maintain your own car. Filters don't expire sitting on a shelf, you'll need one every single oil change, and buying four means you're covered for the next several services without paying shipping four separate times.
It's also one less thing to think about. When the oil is due, the filter is already in the garage rather than being the reason you put the job off another week.
Why Doing It Yourself Is Worth It
Plenty of NSX owners handle their own oil changes, and it's one of the more satisfying jobs on the car. You control the interval, you control what goes in, and you know it was done properly with the right parts rather than whatever the shop had on the shelf.
The other reason is records. If you're keeping a service history on an NSX, and nearly everyone is, doing it yourself with genuine parts means the history is accurate and complete. That matters when the car eventually changes hands, and it matters to you in the meantime.
Time Matters As Much As Mileage
Worth mentioning for this car specifically. A lot of NSXs cover very few miles per year, which leads owners to stretch oil changes because the odometer hasn't moved much.
Oil degrades on a calendar too. It absorbs moisture, additives break down, and combustion byproducts do their work whether the car is being driven or sitting. If yours is a weekend or seasonal car, change the oil and filter on time rather than on mileage. It's cheap maintenance on an engine that isn't cheap to fix.
