TracTuff -16 ORB to -16 AN Male Flare Fitting
If you're plumbing a -16 line into one of TracTuff's cooling components, this is the fitting that connects the two. It threads into a -16 ORB port on one end and gives you a -16 AN male flare on the other to hook your hose-end to. ORB stands for O-Ring-Boss, which is an SAE straight-cut thread that seals with an o-ring instead of by jamming threads together, so you get a clean, reliable seal without messing with thread sealant. The AN side uses a 37° JIC flare that mates to the matching 37° seat on your hose-end, and that metal-to-metal flare is what makes the connection. No tape, no paste, no sealant needed on either end. The o-ring handles the ORB side and the flare handles the AN side. -16 is the most common size you'll run into on TracTuff cooling parts, so if you're building out that side of your system this is the fitting you need.
Why You Don't Need Thread Sealant
This trips people up, so here's the deal. You don't use any thread sealant with these, and that's by design. The ORB end seals on its o-ring, not the threads, so wrapping it in tape or paste does nothing but make a mess and potentially contaminate your system. The AN flare end seals on that 37° seat pressing against the hose-end. Both ends are engineered to seal mechanically, so you just thread them in and snug them down. Adding sealant where it doesn't belong is how you end up with junk floating around in your cooling system, so skip it.
