Supertech Manganese Bronze 5.5mm Valve Guides - Honda/Acura K Series
Rebuilding your K series head with performance valves? You'll need valve guides sized for 5.5mm valve stems. The Supertech manganese bronze valve guides are designed for high-performance K series builds that rev hard and run aggressive cams. They're precision-machined from manganese bronze, which handles heat way better than the factory cast iron guides and resists wear when you're running stiff valve springs and high lift cams. These guides are sold as a set of 8 (either intake or exhaust), so you'll need to order both sets if you're doing a complete head.
Why You Need Manganese Bronze Guides
The factory K series valve guides are cast iron. Cast iron's fine for stock power and stock cams, but if you're building the engine for high RPM or aggressive cam profiles, cast iron guides wear faster. Manganese bronze dissipates heat better and it doesn't gall or wear as quickly when you're running stiff valve springs and high lift cams. If you're building a K series for track use or high-revving street use, manganese bronze guides are what you need.
5.5mm Valve Stem Only
These guides are sized for 5.5mm valve stems. Here's the thing: factory K series intake valves use 5mm stems, and factory exhaust valves use 5.5mm stems. If you're upgrading to aftermarket performance valves from Supertech, Ferrea, or similar companies, they typically use 5.5mm stems for both intake and exhaust. That means you'll need 5.5mm guides for both intake and exhaust. Make sure your valves are 5.5mm stems before you order these guides, or you're ordering the wrong part.
Intake and Exhaust Guides Are Different Lengths
The intake guides are 42mm long. The exhaust guides are 46.7mm long. Both have an 11.07mm outer diameter and both are sized for 5.5mm valve stems. When you order, you're ordering either a set of 8 intake guides or a set of 8 exhaust guides. You're not getting both in one package. If you're doing a complete head, you need to order one set of intake guides and one set of exhaust guides separately.
