PRODUCT DETAILS

SpeedFactory K-Series Throttle Position Sensor

If your K-series is throwing throttle position codes, idling weird, or hesitating when you get on it, a failing TPS is one of the first things to check. The throttle position sensor tells your ECU exactly how far open the throttle is, and the ECU leans on that reading to get the fuel and timing right. When it goes bad you feel it everywhere, rough idle, surging, hesitation off throttle, sometimes a check engine light. This SpeedFactory K-Series TPS is a direct factory replacement that bolts right where the old one came out and gets your throttle reading clean again. No hunting down a used sensor that might already be on its way out. It comes in two versions though, so make sure you grab the right one for your car.

Here's What A Failing TPS Actually Does To Your Car

The TPS sits on your throttle body and constantly tells the ECU your throttle angle, from fully closed at idle all the way to wide open. The ECU uses that signal to decide how much fuel to deliver and how to handle timing. So when the sensor starts reading wrong or dropping out, the ECU's getting bad information and the whole thing gets confused. That's where the rough idle comes from. That's the surging and the hesitation. On a worn sensor the readings get erratic and your car never quite feels right. Dropping in a fresh, accurate TPS clears all that up because the ECU finally gets a clean, consistent signal to work with. Your idle settles, the throttle response sharpens back up, and the car drives the way it's supposed to.

Two Versions, Pick The Right One

This is the part to get right before you click buy, because the RSX comes two ways and they don't share a sensor. Find your car below:

  • Base version. Fits the 2002-2006 Acura RSX Base and the 2002-2006 Honda CR-V.
  • Type-S version. Fits the 2002-2006 Acura RSX Type-S and the 2002-2005 Honda Civic Si.

The catch is the RSX. A Base and a Type-S sit next to each other looking nearly identical, and plenty of people genuinely aren't sure which one they've got, especially if they bought the car used. So confirm your trim before you order rather than guessing. Get that right and everything else here is easy.

Use The Gasket, This Part Matters

Don't skip this one. The TPS comes with a gasket, and it's not just there for looks. That gasket seals the sensor against moisture, and moisture is the enemy of a TPS because it gets into the sensor's internal circuitry and kills it. Install the sensor without the gasket and you're basically inviting water in to do the same thing that killed your last one. Always run the provided gasket so the sensor stays sealed and reads reliably for the long haul. It's a thirty-second step that protects the part for years, so there's no reason to leave it off.

Direct Replacement, Easy Install

This is a straight factory-style replacement, so there's no fabrication or wiring work involved. It comes with the mounting hardware you need, you pull the old sensor, set the new one in with the gasket, bolt it down, and you're done. It plugs into your factory connector and reads just like the OEM sensor it's replacing. Whether you're fixing a daily driver or sorting out a performance build, it's the kind of part you install once and stop thinking about. SpeedFactory backs it with a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase too.
