HKS Super Sound Master Cat-Back Exhaust (32023-AH001) - 2000-2009 Honda S2000
The F-series is one of the great engines and it deserves to be heard. Only 3dB Over Stock, And That's The Point
The numbers surprise people. HKS measures the factory S2000 at 90dB closed and this system at 93dB.
That's a modest increase on paper, and it's deliberate. The Super Sound Master isn't about volume, it's about character. The factory exhaust is reasonably loud already, it just isn't particularly interesting. This changes the tone rather than simply turning it up.
What you get is an exhaust note that builds properly as the F-series climbs toward VTEC and redline, instead of one that's merely present. On a car where the engine is the entire experience, that's the right priority.
Dual 102mm Tips
Large tips, and on an S2000 they look right rather than excessive.
The rear of an AP1 or AP2 is wide and flat with plenty of visual room between the exits. Small tips get lost back there. The dual 102mm arrangement fills that space the way the car's proportions want, and it reads as purposeful rather than bolted on.
Polished finish keeps them looking correct against the rest of the car.
Stepped 60-50mm Center Pipe
Worth understanding, because the stepped design is doing real work.
The center pipe runs 60mm stepping to 50mm. That taper maintains exhaust gas velocity through the system rather than letting it drop the moment gases leave the header.
Velocity is what creates scavenging, and scavenging is what helps pull spent gases out of the cylinder. On a high-revving naturally aspirated engine like the F20C or F22C, that matters considerably more than raw pipe diameter. A straight large-diameter pipe would flow more on paper and make the car worse to drive.
SUS304 Stainless Throughout
Built from SUS304 rather than the SUH409 most factory exhausts use.
SUS304 resists corrosion far better, which matters on a car that's now fifteen to twenty-five years old and likely to be kept. Fit this and it'll outlast the system it replaced by a wide margin, holding its finish rather than going dull and rusty underneath.
123mm Ground Clearance
HKS lists minimum road clearance at 123mm with stock suspension.
Worth knowing, since S2000s get lowered more often than not and that figure comes down with your ride height. If you're on coilovers and running low, check your clearance against where the exhaust sits before you commit.
