HKS Racing Suction Intake Kit (70020-AH101) - 2009-2013 Honda Fit
The GE8 Fit uses a corrugated rubber hose between the airbox and the throttle body, and corrugated means turbulent. HKS replaces it with polished aluminum, adds a heat shield to keep radiator heat out of the intake, and gives the L15A a genuinely better induction note. No tuning required, which makes this one of the few real bolt-ons on this platform.
No ECU Reset Required
Worth leading with, because it's unusual on an intake this involved.
The design doesn't affect air flow sensor output, which means your ECU reads what it expects and nothing needs recalibrating. Fit it and drive.
On a Fit that's a meaningful advantage. Tuning options on this platform are limited and expensive relative to the car, so a modification that works without one is worth more here than it would be on a Civic Si.
Where The Gain Actually Is
HKS is specific about this, and it's the right target for the car.
The gain shows up as increased torque between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm, plus improvement at the top end. That low-to-mid range is where you spend nearly all your time in a Fit, so it translates directly into drivability rather than a peak number you'd only see on a dyno.
A 1.5 liter naturally aspirated engine doesn't have torque to spare. Improving what it has in the range you actually use is more valuable than chasing horsepower it was never going to make.
Why The Rubber Hose Is The Problem
Look at the factory intake path and you'll see a flexible corrugated hose.
Honda uses it because it's cheap and it tolerates engine movement. What it isn't is good for airflow. Every ridge creates turbulence, and turbulent air moves through a tube considerably worse than smooth air does.
Replacing it with polished aluminum removes that restriction entirely. The engine draws clean air rather than disturbed air, and that's where the efficiency gain comes from.
The Heat Shield Does Real Work
An intake only helps if it's drawing cool air, and the Fit's engine bay is compact with the radiator sitting close by.
The included insulator blocks heat radiating off the engine and radiator from reaching the filter. Cooler air is denser air, which means better combustion and power that holds up on a hot day rather than fading in traffic.
That's the difference between an intake that works on paper and one that works in July.
It Looks The Part
The Fit engine bay is not a visually interesting place, and polished aluminum piping changes that considerably.
Along with the sound, it's a real part of why people fit these. The induction note is noticeably sportier than the factory setup, which on a car this quiet is a welcome change.
Not CARB Legal
Worth stating plainly. This is not CARB certified, which means it can't legally be used on a vehicle registered in California or other CARB-regulated states.
If you're in one of those states and the car needs to pass inspection, this isn't the right part regardless of how well it works.
