PRODUCT DETAILS

Haltech HPI4 High Power Igniter 15 Amp Quad Channel with Plug and Pins is a 4 Coil Ignition Driver that takes your ECU level ignition outputs and does the heavy lifting on coil primary current. Think of it as the muscle in your Haltech Ignition System, your ECU handles timing and dwell strategy, this 15 Amp Ignition Module switches the coils.

You run an external igniter like this when your ECU only has low current trigger outputs, or when you do not want to rely on the igniter built into smart coils or an OEM distributor module. It also cleans up wiring because you package four channels in one box, which makes service and harness layout way less annoying at the track.

Haltech rates the Haltech HPI4 Igniter at up to 15 amps per channel, across four channels. That makes it a legit Quad Channel Ignition Module for a 4 cylinder wasted spark setup, sequential COP needing four ignition outputs, or an 8 cylinder wasted spark combo if you add more channels elsewhere. If you need an Ignition Driver for Coils that can handle real current without asking your ECU to do it, this is the play.

  • Use case Universal Igniter Module for ECU controlled inductive coils, solid as an Ignition Module for Racing when you want easy service and predictable wiring

Installation and setup considerations: Mount this on a flat surface so it can shed heat, and keep it away from exhaust heat. This is not optional if you want it to live. Setup depends on your ECU settings and the coils you picked. Haltech is blunt about it, choose the wrong dwell mode or coil charge settings and you can cook the module or the coils. Verify dwell control mode and coil charge before you go full send and start heat cycling parts.

Compatibility notes: This is a general purpose Haltech ECU Igniter for programmable ECUs, not vehicle specific. People commonly pair it with Haltech ECUs, including Haltech Platinum ECU Compatible installs, as long as your ECU provides the right ignition trigger outputs and your coils make sense for a 15 amp external igniter channel. We use these exact external igniter setups on our own cars when we want a dependable Performance Ignition System and clean wiring, especially when doing a Transistor Ignition Upgrade from weaker factory ignition modules.
