PRL Motorsports Downpipe Gasket - 3" KLINGER Graphite Laminate
Factory paper gaskets don't survive. They harden, crack, and eventually leak, and an exhaust leak at the downpipe flange is the kind of thing you hear before you find it. PRL's gasket is stamped from KLINGER graphite laminate, rated to 450°C, and it conforms to flanges that aren't perfectly flat. It's a 3" ID gasket built for PRL downpipes that works with any 3" downpipe.
Why Graphite Beats Paper
The material is the whole story here.
KLINGER SLS is expanded graphite layers bonded to a 0.05mm stainless steel foil core. The graphite conforms to the flange surface, filling irregularities and sealing even when the mating faces aren't perfectly true. The steel foil gives it structure so it doesn't blow out under exhaust pressure.
That combination is why it handles 450°C (842°F) without degrading, where paper hardens and cracks. Heat cycling is what kills a gasket, and graphite stays flexible through it rather than going brittle.
The adhesive content is under 1%, which means you're getting almost entirely graphite. More graphite means better conformability and better temperature resistance.
It Seals A Flange That Isn't Flat
This matters more than people expect on a downpipe.
Turbo flanges see extreme heat cycling, and they warp. Not dramatically, but enough that a rigid gasket won't seal against the whole surface. That's where leaks start, and it's why a fresh paper gasket sometimes leaks straight away on a flange that's been through a few hundred heat cycles.
Graphite conforms. It fills the low spots and seals against a surface that isn't perfect, which on a used flange is exactly what you need.
Where It Goes On Your Car
The location differs by application, so check yours.
Type R, Integra Type S, and RDX: between the downpipe and the front pipe.
Accord 2.0T: between the front pipe and the exhaust.
Same gasket either way, just a different joint depending on how the system is laid out.
Replace It Every Time
Any time the downpipe or front pipe comes off, the gasket goes back on new.
Used gaskets have already conformed to the flange in one specific position, and they've been compressed. Reusing one means it can't seal the same way again, and you'll be back under the car chasing a leak that could have been prevented for the price of this part.
Fits Any 3" Downpipe
Designed around PRL downpipes, but the 3" ID bore means it works with any 3" downpipe regardless of who made it.
Useful if you're running another brand's pipe and want a gasket that seals properly rather than whatever came in the box.

Who Should Grab One
This is for anyone fitting a downpipe, and for anyone chasing a leak at that flange on a car that's had one off before. It's cheap, it seals better than what came off, and it handles the heat that kills paper gaskets. Grab one with your downpipe or keep one on the shelf for the next time.
