Action Clutch Stage 2 Clutch Kit - 2006-2011 Honda Civic Si
Your 8th gen Civic Si clutch slipping after you added bolt-ons and a tune? The Action Clutch Stage 2 kit is a single-disc performance clutch built for the 2006-2011 Civic Si. It's got a heavy-duty pressure plate and a full-face Kevlar friction disc instead of your factory organic disc. The Kevlar disc bites harder than your stock clutch and it handles heat better than the Stage 1's copper Kevlar organic disc. If you're running bolt-ons, mild cams, or a low-boost turbo setup and your stock clutch is slipping, this clutch'll hold. The pedal's heavier than stock but it's way lighter than the Stage 3 or Stage 4. There's minimal chatter and the engagement is smooth enough for daily driving. If you want more holding power than the Stage 1 but you're not ready for the chatter and heavy pedal of the Stage 3, this is the middle ground.
Here's Why You'd Choose Stage 2 Over Stage 1
The Stage 1 is fine for stock or basic bolt-on cars. But when you add more aggressive bolt-ons, mild cams, or a low-boost turbo setup, the Stage 1 starts to slip. The Stage 2 uses a full-face Kevlar disc instead of the Stage 1's copper Kevlar organic disc. Kevlar handles heat better than organic material and it grabs harder. You're getting 110% more holding power than your stock clutch. That's enough for mild turbo setups in the 250-300whp range or aggressive naturally aspirated builds with cams. If you're making more power than that, you need the Stage 3 with the ceramic puck disc.
Full-Face Kevlar Disc - Smooth Engagement
The Stage 2 uses a full-face Kevlar friction disc. The Kevlar material covers the entire face of the disc instead of being arranged in pucks like the Stage 3. Full-face discs engage smoother than puck-style discs and they don't chatter as much. That's why the Stage 2 is way easier to live with on the street than the Stage 3. The engagement feels more like stock and you're not getting the violent chatter that puck-style ceramic discs give you. The trade-off is full-face discs don't handle heat quite as well as puck discs and they don't grab quite as hard. But for street/track cars that aren't making crazy power, full-face Kevlar is the sweet spot.
Heavier Pedal Than Stage 1, Lighter Than Stage 3
The Stage 2 pedal's heavier than the Stage 1 but it's way lighter than the Stage 3 or Stage 4. Your left leg will notice it in traffic but it's not unbearable. If you're coming from a stock clutch, the pedal will feel noticeably heavier. If you've driven a Stage 3 or Stage 4 before, the Stage 2 will feel light by comparison. Most people can daily drive the Stage 2 without complaining too much.
Break It In or You'll Glaze the Disc
You need to break this clutch in properly. Action recommends 1,000 miles of normal street driving with controlled RPMs and throttle inputs. That means no hard launches, no clutch kicks, and no slipping the clutch for the first 1,000 miles. If you don't break it in properly, the Kevlar material will glaze and the clutch won't grab like it's supposed to. A glazed clutch slips and it won't hold the power it's rated for. Follow the break-in procedure or you're wasting your money.

Note: The Stage 2 is for bolt-on cars, mild cams, or low-boost turbo setups in the 250-300whp range. If you're making more power than that or you're doing serious drag racing with hard launches, you need the Stage 3 or Stage 4. Resurface or replace your flywheel when you install this clutch. Don't put a new clutch on a scored or warped flywheel. It won't engage smoothly. Break the clutch in properly - 1,000 miles of normal street driving with no hard launches or aggressive driving. If you skip the break-in, you'll glaze the Kevlar material and the clutch won't hold power properly. The Stage 2 is a good middle ground between the Stage 1 (stock-like feel, lower holding power) and the Stage 3 (aggressive engagement, high holding power, lots of chatter). If you want stock-like feel, get the Stage 1. If you want maximum holding power and you can deal with chatter, get the Stage 3.
