SpeedFactory MLSS-HP Head Gasket - Honda/Acura K20A/K20Z/K24A
Building a K-series and want a head gasket that won't tap out before the rest of your motor does? This is the one. The SpeedFactory MLSS-HP isn't your average MLS gasket, the name stands for Multi-Layer Stainless Steel plus high-performance silicone beads, and it's made to seal anything from a fresh stock rebuild to a high-compression, nitrous-fed, or full-boost K20 or K24. SpeedFactory has run this gasket past 1400 wheel horsepower on the right combo, so no matter where your build lands on that spectrum, you're not going to be the one wondering if the gasket can hang.
Why It Seals When Cheaper Gaskets Give Up
Here's what's working for you under that head. It's a 4-layer stainless gasket, and those layers are what keep your combustion seal tight even when your deck flexes a bit under serious cylinder pressure, which it will once you're really leaning on the motor. It's 0.040" thick where the stock gasket's about 0.028", so it makes up for the material your machine shop took off when they decked your head and block, and it gives you room to run O-rings on a heavy build. The piece that really earns its keep is the silicone bead built right into it around the oiling passages, that's what keeps your fluids sealed up way better than a bare steel gasket manages, and there's an elastomeric coating across the whole face that fills in the little imperfections you'll never get perfectly flat. It's made by an OE-certified shop too (ISO 9001, ISO/TS16949, ISO 14001), so the quality's there behind the design.
No Stopper Ring, And That's The Point
You won't find a gas-stopper ring on this one, and that's a deliberate call from SpeedFactory, not a shortcut. On a high-output K build running O-rings, a stopper ring actually works against your O-rings instead of helping, so they left it off and built the gasket around what genuinely holds power. Bolt it down with a 1/2" L19 stud kit and it's proven reliable to 1000 horsepower. When you're making more than any stopper-style gasket could hope to hold, the move is O-ringed sleeves paired with this metal gasket, and that's the setup that's gone over 1400 to the wheels.
Set Up For Factory Or 1/2" Studs
The stud holes are already opened up, so this works with factory studs or big 1/2" studs, whatever your build calls for. Going 1/2"? Only the two locating dowel holes stay OEM-sized and need a quick modification, everything else is done for you, so you're not stuck reaming the whole deck during assembly. SpeedFactory has run this exact gasket with their Extreme Duty L19 studs on a wet-deck Bullet Billet block to 1400+ wheel horsepower, so it's proven at the deep end. Pair it with a SpeedFactory head stud kit, torque to spec, and you've got about as good a seal as a K-series gets.
Grab The Right Bore Size
Match the gasket to your bore, and always size up to the gasket that covers your bore, not under it. Here's what each one's for:
- 86.50mm gasket: for an 86.00 to 86.50mm bore
- 87.50mm gasket: for an 86.75 to 87.50mm bore
- 88.50mm gasket: for an 87.75 to 88.50mm bore
Head Casting Compatibility
This fits K20 and K24 engines running the PPA, PRB, or PNC head, as well as the later RBC, RBB, or RAA head, which covers most of the common K-series and head-swap combinations out there. If you're mixing and matching heads and blocks on your build, double-check your head casting against that list before you order so you're getting the right gasket for your combo.
