Competition Clutch OE Replacement Clutch Kit for B Series

The original clutch in a 25 year old Honda has usually outlived a couple of owners, and when it finally starts slipping most people do not need a race clutch. They need the car to feel factory again. That is exactly what this Competition Clutch OE replacement clutch kit does for hydraulic B series gearboxes: every 1994-2001 Acura Integra from the B18B1 LS to the B18C5 Type R, the 1999-2000 Civic Si EM1 with its B16A2, the 1994-1997 del Sol VTEC running the B16A3, and the 1997-2001 CR-V with the B20. Stock clamp load, stock organic disc, stock pedal feel.

What It Is and Why It Works

Competition Clutch builds part number 8026-STOCK to factory specifications: a full face organic disc with a sprung hub paired with an OE equivalent pressure plate, so pedal effort and engagement feel match what the car left the assembly line with. The draw is simple. You get a complete kit, pressure plate, disc, release bearing, pilot bushing, and alignment tool in one box, without ordering OEM parts piecemeal through a dealer. It carries a stock torque capacity rating, which is the honest way of saying it holds what a healthy B16, B18, or B20 makes and nothing more. For a daily driven DC2, EM1, or CR-V on stock power or basic bolt-ons, that is the right tool.

This kit is for hydraulic clutch B series transmissions only. The 1990-1993 Integra used a cable-actuated clutch with its B18A1 and B17A1 engines and takes a different kit, Competition Clutch 8017-STOCK. If you are running a B series swap, what matters is the transmission: hydraulic gearbox means this kit, cable gearbox means the 8017 version.

What to Know Before You Buy

Be honest about your power level. This clutch holds factory B series torque, period. Add a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous and it will slip, and you will be pulling the transmission again inside a year. Modified cars belong on a Stage 1.5 or higher. Resurface or replace your flywheel during the install, because a heat-spotted or grooved flywheel will chew up a new organic disc quickly. Follow the 300 mile break-in with easy street driving, no launches and no slipping the clutch under load, so the friction material beds evenly. Our take: for a stock or lightly bolted-on B series daily, this is the kit we would run. It restores the light pedal and smooth takeup these cars are known for, and it costs less than piecing together OEM components.

Year Make Model Trim Engine
2002-2006 Acura RSX Base, Type-S K20A3, K20A2, K20Z1
2004-2008 Acura TSX Base K24A2
2003-2007 Honda Accord 2.4L manual trims (DX, LX, EX, SE, VP) K24A4, K24A8
2002-2005 Honda Civic Si (EP3) K20A3
2006-2011 Honda Civic Si, 2008 Mugen Si (FG2, FA5) K20Z3
2002-2006 Honda CR-V LX, EX, SE manual K24A1
2003-2011 Honda Element DX, LX, EX, SC manual K24A4, K24A8

Every application above is manual transmission only. The Accord, CR-V, and Element rows are the 2.4L K24 manual cars and come straight from the manufacturer catalog. Because this clutch bolts to the K-series crank and works with the K-series gearbox, it is also the right part for K20 and K24 engine swaps into EG, EK, and other chassis running a K-series transmission, which is where a lot of these kits actually end up.
