Competition Clutch Stage 1 Gravity Clutch Kit 92-05 Civic
The Competition Clutch Stage 1 Gravity clutch kit, part 8022-2400, is the sensible answer for a D series Civic that has outgrown a worn stock clutch but does not need race hardware. It fits the 1992-2005 Honda Civic and 1993-1995 del Sol with D15, D16, and D17 engines, which covers everything from a bone stock EG shell with a D15B7 to a bolt-on EK with a D16Y8 or an EM2 era D17 commuter. Per manufacturer it adds roughly 40 to 50 percent more torque capacity over stock while keeping factory pedal effort, and that combination is exactly why we point naturally aspirated D series owners at it.
What It Is and Why It Works
Gravity is Competition Clutch's entry performance line. The 2400 series kit pairs a Competition Clutch pressure plate with a performance disc assembly, all applicable bearings including the throw out bearing, and the correct alignment tool, so it goes in like a normal clutch job with nothing extra to source. Because the pressure plate adds clamp load without an aggressive friction compound, engagement stays smooth and the pedal stays light. The result is a clutch that shrugs off spirited driving and the occasional aggressive launch on a stock or lightly modified D series without making traffic miserable. A 300 mile break-in period is recommended by Competition Clutch before you lean on it.

Fitment
| Year | Make | Model | Trim | Engine |
| 1992-2005 | Honda | Civic | CX, DX, LX, EX, HX, Value Package | D15, D16, D17 |

Manual transmission D series cars only. This kit does not fit any B series car, so 1999-2000 Civic Si (B16A2) and del Sol VTEC owners need the B series version instead, and it does not fit the 2006 and newer Civic. Competition Clutch does not list the 1990-1991 Civic for this kit, so if you have a 4th gen, verify your transmission before ordering.
What to Know Before You Buy
Know what this clutch is not. It is explicitly not rated for forced induction, so if a turbo kit or nitrous is anywhere in your plans, buy the stage that matches your power goal now instead of doing the job twice; clutch installs on these cars are cheap in parts and expensive in hours. For a naturally aspirated D series with intake, header, and exhaust, this is honestly the stage we recommend, because anything grabbier just adds chatter and effort without holding power you do not make. Respect the 300 mile break-in with normal street driving before hard launches. While the transmission is out, replace the rear main seal, inspect the clutch fork and pivot, and consider a fresh or lightweight flywheel, since the D series responds noticeably to reduced rotating mass and the labor overlaps completely.
