That is bump steer and a dropped roll center, and both come from the same thing: the lower arm and the tie rod are now angled up at the wheel instead of sitting flat. This Whiteline front roll center and bump steer kit for the 1992-2000 Civic and 1994-2001 Integra fixes both with extended lower ball joints and extended tie rod ends.

What It Is and Why It Works

Lowering a double-wishbone Honda front end tips the lower arm up at the ball joint. That drops the roll center, which gives the chassis more leverage to roll, and it moves the tie rod off the arc of the control arm, so every time the suspension compresses the toe changes and the car steers itself. Whiteline's kit replaces the lower ball joint with a taller one, which puts the arm back to a flatter angle and raises the roll center, and replaces the outer tie rod end with a longer one so the steering arm follows the control arm again. On a K-swapped EK on 8k springs it is the difference between a car that tracks straight over a rough braking zone and one that hunts.

Unlike the DC5 and EP3 kit, this one includes both halves of the fix in one box. It is for cars dropped roughly 1.5 inches or more; at stock height it will overcorrect.

Specs

Spec

Detail

Part number

KCA524

Kit contents

Extended lower ball joints and extended tie rod ends, both sides, per manufacturer

Corrects

Front roll center and bump steer

Position

Front, both sides

Alignment

Front alignment required

Warranty

3 year / 60,000 km, per manufacturer

Fitment

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

1992-1995

Honda

Civic

All (EG, EH)

D15, D16, B16A2

1993-1997

Honda

Civic del Sol

S, Si, VTEC

D15, D16, B16A3

1996-2000

Honda

Civic

All (EJ, EK, EM)

D16, B16A2

1994-2001

Acura

Integra

All including Type R (DC2, DB8)

B18B1, B18C1, B18C5

Whiteline lists this kit for the 4th, 5th and 6th gen Civic and the DC2 Integra. Our structured fitment covers 92-00 Civic, 93-97 del Sol and 94-01 Integra; the 88-91 EF Civic and CRX are on Whiteline's list but are not in our fitment rows yet. The kit is for the factory lower arms and tie rods; if you are running aftermarket arms with a different ball joint taper, check before ordering.

What to Know Before You Buy

Press work and an alignment are part of the job. The ball joints press into the lower arms and the tie rod ends thread onto the inner rods, then the front toe will be way out because both the knuckle height and the tie rod length changed. Do not drive it to the alignment shop on the freeway.

Check what is already on the car. A lot of EG and DC2 builds have aftermarket lower arms or roll center adjusters from another brand, and a Whiteline extended ball joint on top of somebody else's extended ball joint puts the geometry past where it should be. This kit assumes factory arms and factory-length inner tie rods.

Measure your drop honestly. Under about an inch, you do not need this and a good alignment covers it. Between one and two inches it makes a real difference. Past two and a half inches, the extended joints help but you are also fighting camber curve and axle angle, and you should be looking at the whole front end, not one kit. While the arms are out, replace the lower control arm bushings if they are original; the Whiteline W53608 kit does the EK and the same logic applies to the EG and DC2.

2002-2004 Acura RSX Base/Type S
2002-2005 Honda Civic Si
2001-2005 Honda Civic DX/EX/LX

Specs

Spec

Detail

Part number

KCA524

Kit contents

Extended lower ball joints and extended tie rod ends, both sides, per manufacturer

Corrects

Front roll center and bump steer

Position

Front, both sides

Alignment

Front alignment required

Warranty

3 year / 60,000 km, per manufacturer
