PRL Motorsports' front pipe replaces the stock restrictive section with a mandrel-bent 3\" stainless steel pipe that eliminates the bottleneck. You're getting increased exhaust flow through the midrange and top end. More flow means less backpressure which means the turbo spools easier and you're making more power. This isn't a catted downpipe. This is the front pipe section that comes after the catalytic converter. You're not deleting emissions equipment. You're upgrading the post-cat exhaust flow. If you're running a PRL downpipe, an intake, and a tune, the front pipe's the next piece that opens up the exhaust system.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4\u003eHere's Why the Stock Front Pipe Is Restrictive\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe stock front pipe on the 2018-2022 Accord 2.0T uses smaller diameter tubing than the downpipe. The downpipe's 3\" and then it steps down to a smaller diameter in the front pipe section. That step-down creates a restriction. The exhaust gases are trying to flow through a smaller opening which creates backpressure. Backpressure kills power. It makes the turbo work harder to push exhaust out. It reduces midrange torque. It costs you horsepower at the top end. PRL's front pipe uses mandrel-bent 3\" tubing all the way through. No step-down. No crimped bends. The tubing's smooth on the inside and the diameter's consistent. The exhaust gases flow freely from the downpipe through the front pipe and out the exhaust. You're getting rid of the restriction. The result's better flow, less backpressure, and more power through the midrange and top end.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4\u003eMandrel-Bent 3\" Stainless Steel with CNC Flanges\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003ePRL's building this front pipe from 16-gauge 304 stainless steel. That's corrosion-resistant and it handles high exhaust temps without cracking or rusting. The tubing's mandrel-bent which means the bends are smooth on the inside with no crimping or collapsing. Crimped bends restrict flow. Mandrel bends maintain the full 3\" diameter all the way through the bend. The flanges are CNC-machined which means they're flat and they seal correctly against the downpipe and the midpipe. No exhaust leaks. The pipe includes a high-quality reinforced flex section which absorbs engine movement and vibration. The flex keeps the pipe from cracking when the engine rocks under load. Everything's fully back-purged during welding which prevents sugaring and oxidation on the inside of the welds. The welds are clean and they're not going to crack or fail from heat cycling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4\u003eRear Engine Mount Upgrade Recommended\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003ePRL recommends upgrading your rear engine mount when you install this front pipe. The stock rear engine mount's soft and it lets the engine move around under load. When the engine moves, the exhaust system flexes. That flexing can cause the front pipe to contact the chassis or other components. Over time that contact can wear through the pipe or crack the welds. A stiffer rear engine mount controls engine movement and keeps the exhaust system stable. The front pipe stays where it's supposed to be and it doesn't flex as much. You're getting better fitment and longer life from the pipe. Hasport makes rear engine mounts for the Accord 2.0T in different durometers. Most people run 70A for street use.
