Koyo Dual Core Radiator - 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R (FK8)
Track your Type R, or just live somewhere the summer actually means it? Then you already know the factory radiator can get in over its head. The FK8's K20C1 makes real power and real heat, and while the stock rad is fine cruising around, lean on the car in the heat or run a few hard laps and those coolant temps start climbing on you. This Koyo dual-core radiator gives your cooling system the muscle to keep up, so you can keep pushing instead of backing off and babysitting the temp gauge.
Why You'd Step Up To This
Here's the deal with cooling on these cars. Your radiator's whole job is pulling heat back out of the coolant, and there's only so much a thin factory core can shed before it falls behind. Once it does, your temps creep up, and on a turbo car that's when you start losing power to heat and risking the kind of temps you don't want to see on track. This Koyo holds more coolant and moves a lot more heat, so it keeps you in the safe zone when the factory rad would be waving the white flag. If your Type R only ever sees a gentle commute, the stock rad's fine, but if you drive it the way it was built to be driven, this is the upgrade that keeps temps honest.
What Makes The Koyo Better
This is where Koyo's reputation shows up. The core is their high-density, fully brazed Hyper Core, built as a two-row design that's 50% thicker than your factory radiator, and that extra thickness is exactly what lets it dump so much more heat. It's TIG welded for real strength where it counts, finished in clean brushed aluminum that looks right in the bay, and it's got a billet drain plug so draining and refilling is clean and leak-free. And every single one gets triple pressure-tested before it ships, so you know the one you're bolting in isn't going to spring a leak on you. Koyo's been building OEM and racing radiators forever, and this is that same quality aimed at your Type R.
Bolts Right In
Good news on the install: this is a direct fit. It's made to work with your OEM fans, hoses, and sensors, so you're not fabricating anything or hunting for adapters, your factory stuff bolts right back up to it. Pull the old rad, drop this one in, reconnect everything, and you're done.
One Note Before You Order
Quick heads-up: the radiator cap isn't included. So plan to reuse your factory cap or grab a fresh one to go with it, especially if yours has some miles and heat cycles on it, since a tired cap can't hold proper system pressure.
