When that filter is dirty the car feels lazy off idle, and this washable honda civic air filter drops in the same Hybrid box. The 2006-2011 Hybrid is a 1.3 IMA. The 2012-2015 Hybrid is a 1.5 IMA. Same panel.

K&N 33-2348 is the High-Flow stock-replacement panel for that factory Hybrid airbox. One pre-oiled cotton filter in the package. It also drops into a 2013-2014 Acura ILX Hybrid, which shares that later 1.5 IMA setup. No intake tube, no lid, no cabin filter.

What It Is and Why It Works

Honda put a disposable paper element in this Hybrid airbox. You pull it at the service interval, toss it, and close the lid. K&N builds this as washable oiled cotton gauze, so you get a panel you can clean and reuse, and you take on the oiling. Official re-oil is 0.68 oz (20 ml). Put more than that on the media and oil can migrate onto the MAF, so stay on that number when you service it.

In the stock Hybrid box this is more a keep-the-car-running part than a sound part, and it is a good one. These IMA cars are quiet, and you will hear a little more intake when the gas engine wakes up, which is a nice change if you like that. What you will not get is a mileage jump or a number worth printing on a dyno sheet. The airbox and the snorkel are still the restriction.

Oiled gauze also gives up a little fine-dust capture next to fresh paper. If this Hybrid lives on gravel or a dusty commute, keep paper in the trunk and change it often. That is the one case we would stay on paper.

Specs

Manufacturer Part Number

33-2348

Hybrid Racing SKU

KNN-33-2348

Line

High-Flow panel engine air filter

Position

Engine air filter, one panel

Honda OE cross

17220-RMX-000 (2006-2011 Hybrid) and 17220-RW0-A01 (2012-2015 Hybrid), listed on the K&N PDP

Other official crosses

WIX 49091 / 49157, Fram CA10490, per K&N

Filter material

Cotton gauze, oiled, washable, per manufacturer

Shape

Panel

Outside length

7.375 in (187 mm)

Outside width

7 in (178 mm)

Height

0.938 in (24 mm)

Re-oil amount

0.68 oz (20 ml), per K&N

Service interval

Clean every 75,000 miles under normal highway driving, per K&N

Overall filter efficiency

Up to 99 percent, per K&N

Contents

1 engine air filter. When you clean it, use K&N cleaner and oil, not a dry-filter spray, and stop at 0.68 oz (20 ml). Let the media sit until it is tacky, not wet, before the lid goes back on. If you just bought the car and the last owner already ran a soaked gauze panel, it is worth hitting the MAF with MAF-safe spray while the box is open.

While you are in there, worth a look at the lid gasket and the clamp on the intake tube. A crushed seal is why people swear a new filter did nothing. A 1.8 or an Si is a different panel, a 2003-2005 Hybrid is a different box, and if someone already swapped the box for an intake kit, buy the filter that kit calls for.
