This is a 184mm ceramic twin-disc kit built around a rigid (unsprung) hub. Here's what that means in practice: there's no spring damper absorbing shock between the disc and the input shaft. That's intentional. At the torque and shock-load levels this kit handles, a sprung hub becomes a failure point. The rigid hub holds up; a street-spec sprung hub doesn't.

The flywheel is 4140 forged steel, which is a high-chromium alloy chosen for its toughness under repeated heat cycling. The pressure plate cover is 6061-T6 aluminum, keeping unsprung rotating weight down without sacrificing rigidity. The diaphragm spring is 6150 steel, a spring steel alloy that maintains clamping load after repeated hard engagements. The disc material is ceramic on both discs.

Competition Clutch rates this kit at 500 to 1200hp depending on application. No published lb-ft torque figure exists from Competition Clutch or their authorized retailers for this specific kit, so we're not going to invent one. What we can tell you is that multiple authorized retailers list this identically, and the hp range reflects real variance based on engine configuration, traction, and shock load.

The replacement lower (engine-side) disc uses a 1-1/32 inch x 24-spline input shaft spec. Built for high-power, track-only RSX Type S cars, this Acura RSX race clutch setup gives you serious torque capacity, fast shifts, and repeatable engagement for racing without pretending to be street-friendly.

This Action Clutch Twin Disc uses 7.25-inch sintered metallic race discs with high-strength steel pressure and floater plates, so it’ll put up with abusive launches and back-to-back high-RPM passes. It’s a true RSX Type S Twin Disc meant for drag, time attack, and other motorsports where a missed shift actually matters. The lightweight RSX chromoly flywheel drops rotating mass, so your K-series spins up quicker and throttle response stays sharp. Clamping force is high, but pedal effort isn’t “leg day only” like some old-school race setups.

This RSX Type S clutch kit is track-first, not a “maybe I can daily it” part. Action Clutch builds these motorports clutch RSX kits for race use only, and they’re not recommended for street duty. If you want an RSX track clutch kit that can live behind a serious turbo or high-comp NA build, this is the kind of setup RSX owners step up to when single discs stop holding. Every kit goes through inspection before it leaves, so you can focus on the tune and chassis instead of wondering if your clutch will scatter.

Torque Capacity

Rated for up to 1200 ft/lbs crank torque

Track-use applications only – proper for serious RSX K-series clutch builds

What’s Included

Twin 7.25-inch sintered metallic race discs

High-strength steel alloy pressure plate

Steel floater plate

Ventilated T6061 billet aluminum clutch cover

Lightweight chromoly flywheel

Pilot bearing / bushing (when applicable)

Clutch alignment tool

Conventional release bearing

Break-In Requirements

100 easy street miles required before you send it

Keep RPM under 4500

No more than half throttle

No boost during break-in – or expect to shorten its life

Important Notes

Not recommended for street or daily-driven RSX

Unsprung discs are intended for race use only – expect noise and harsh engagement

Wrong clutch choice will cause premature failure, even with a “big” torque rating

Torque rating is based on crank torque, not wheel torque

Gear-X gear sets require fully machined input shafts

If your high-power Acura RSX Type S needs an aggressive launch clutch that survives hard hits on slicks and full-throttle shifts, this Action Clutch Twin Disc RSX K-series clutch is the level you’re shopping for. The Competition Clutch K-series twin disc clutch kit, part number 1848037-2, runs two 184mm ceramic discs and carries a published rating of 1350 horsepower. Two friction surfaces means the assembly holds torque through surface area rather than clamp load alone, which is how a DC5 RSX Type-S or a K24 swapped EG puts down real power without a pedal you need both legs for. The kit is assembled in Anaheim, California and ships complete with the flywheel, so you are not sourcing pieces separately.

What It Is and Why It Works

Two 184mm segmented ceramic discs on solid hubs ride on a chromoly flywheel under a 6061 T6 aluminum cover with a steel diaphragm. Ceramic material bites hard and shrugs off the heat that glazes an organic disc after back to back passes, and the solid hub deletes the sprung center damper, which is what makes engagement repeatable at the limit and noisy everywhere else. The Power-V drive system lets the floater plate self center between the discs, so drive forces are distributed evenly across both surfaces instead of loading one, and the assembly stays dynamically balanced at high rpm.

Installation is a direct bolt in for K-series applications with the 1-1/32 inch, 24 spline input shaft, so there is no adapter plate or transmission machining involved. Competition Clutch includes the throwout bearing, pilot bushing, hardware and alignment tool with this kit, which is worth calling out because the S2000 and some older multi-disc part numbers do not include a release bearing.

Specs

Manufacturer part transmission and its 24 spline input shaft, not the chassis. If you are running a K swap in an EG, EK, DC2 or anything else, this bolts to the K-series box you already have. Note that the base and EX Civics of these generations are not covered, only the Si. If your build uses a converted or aftermarket bellhousing setup, ask us before ordering.

What to Know Before You Buy

This is a full race clutch and it does not pretend otherwise. Solid hub ceramic discs chatter when you pull away until you learn the engagement point, and the pack rattles at idle and with the pedal down. Neither is a fault. Engagement is sharp and the usable window is narrow, so stop and go traffic, parking lots and hill starts stop being relaxing. Competition Clutch specifies roughly 500 to 700 easy street miles of break-in for ceramic assemblies before hard launches, and skipping that is the quickest way to glaze new discs. Multi-disc racing clutches are also excluded from the Competition Clutch limited warranty, so an install mistake is expensive.

Our advice: if the car is a daily driver that visits the track occasionally, buy a good single disc and keep your commute livable. Choose this kit when the car is built to run hard and you are willing to trade refinement for holding power. If you are ordering, bleed the clutch hydraulics completely with fresh fluid during install, because air in the line makes an already narrow engagement point nearly impossible to find, and inspect the master and slave cylinders while the transmission is out. A tired master hides behind a soft street clutch and gets exposed immediately behind two ceramic discs. Plan on stronger axles and a proper tune as well, since a clutch that finally holds the power will find the next weak link in the driveline.

2002-2006 Acura RSX
2002-2006 Acura RSX Type-S
2004-2008 Acura TSX
2003-2007 Honda Accord
2002-2006 Honda CR-V
2006-2011 Honda Civic
2006-2011 Honda Civic Si
2002-2005 Honda Civic Si
2001-2005 Honda Civic
2003-2011 Honda Element

Supports up to 1350 HP.

Advanced CAD/CAM design technology.

Self-centering Power-V drive system.

Direct bolt-in for easy installation.

Assembled and tested in the USA.

Description

Vehicle Fitment

Technical Data

Install Guide

Competition Clutch B Series 184mm Twin Disc Clutch Kit

When your turbo B series passes 400 whp, single disc clutches stop being a solution and start being the problem. The pressure plates get so stiff your left leg hates traffic, and the puck discs grab so hard they shock-load your axles and synchros on every shift. The Competition Clutch B series 184mm twin disc clutch kit, part number 1848026-2 (formerly 4-8026-C), is the answer for big power DC2 and DC4 Integras, del Sol VTEC builds, and B swapped EG and EK Civics running a hydraulic B series transmission. Competition Clutch rates the 184 series twin disc at up to 1,350 hp, and dealers commonly cite a realistic holding range of 500 to 1,200 hp depending on the application and how hard you launch.

What It Is and Why It Works

A twin disc splits the work of holding your power across two friction discs and a floater plate, which gives you four friction surfaces instead of the two on a single disc. That means each engagement puts less heat and less abuse into each disc, and the pressure plate doesn't need brutal clamp load to hold the power. The practical result: this clutch holds more than any single disc Stage 4 or Stage 5 setup while being easier on your drivetrain and noticeably lighter on your left leg than a comparably rated single.

The 184mm (7.25 inch) disc diameter is intentional, not a compromise. Stock B series discs are 215mm. Smaller discs carry less rotational mass, so a built B18C revs faster between shifts and your synchros have less inertia to fight at 8,500 plus rpm. You give up surface area per disc and get it back, and then some, by running two of them.

Unlike most single disc kits, the flywheel comes in the box, and it has to. The 184mm assembly needs its own 4140 forged steel flywheel machined for the smaller disc diameter, so you can't reuse your OEM flywheel. The kit pairs that flywheel with two unsprung ceramic discs, a self-centering floater plate using Competition Clutch's Power-V drive system, and a 6061 T6 aluminum cover with a 6150 steel diaphragm. The Power-V floater self-centers as the discs wear, which keeps clamp load even so both discs wear at roughly the same rate. Every kit is assembled and tested at Competition Clutch's Anaheim, California facility.

Specs

Manufacturer Part Number

1848026-2 (formerly 4-8026-C)

Hybrid Racing SKU

COC-1848026-2

Type

Twin disc clutch kit with flywheel

Disc Diameter

184mm (7.25 inch)

Friction Material

Ceramic, unsprung discs

Floater Plate

Self-centering Power-V drive system

Flywheel

4140 forged steel, included

Cover

6061 T6 aluminum

Diaphragm

6150 steel

Power Rating

Up to 1,350 hp per manufacturer; 500 to 1,200 hp application dependent per dealers

Actuation

Hydraulic B series manual transmissions only

Assembly

Assembled and tested in Anaheim, California, per manufacturer

Fitment

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

1994-2001

Acura

Integra

RS, LS, GS, Special Edition

B18B1

1994-2001

Acura

Integra

GS-R

B18C1

1997-2001

Acura

Integra

Type R

B18C5

1994-1997

Honda

Civic del Sol

VTEC only

B16A3, B16A2

Del Sol buyers: only the VTEC trim fits. The del Sol S (D15B7) and Si (D16Z6) run D series engines, and this is a B series clutch. The floater plate rattles at idle with the pedal up or down at a stop. It sounds like a metallic jingle, it's normal for every twin disc ever made, and it isn't a warranty issue, but your passengers will ask about it. The unsprung ceramic pucks also chirp on engagement and the bite zone is narrow. Most owners describe pedal effort around two to three times stock, which is still lighter than a high clamp single disc at the same rating. Give it a few days and finding the engagement point becomes second nature. Daily driving it is doable if your commute is mostly open road; if you creep through stop-and-go traffic every day, you'll be happier with a sprung single disc and less power headroom.

Break it in properly: roughly 500 miles of gentle driving, no launches, no bangs through the gears, so the ceramic pads bed into the discs and floater. It will feel inconsistent until the pads seat, then it wakes up. During install, replace the release and pilot bearings, check the rear main seal (oil on ceramic friction surfaces means slip and uneven engagement), and bleed the hydraulic system completely, because air in the line makes a narrow bite point even harder to find. Fresh flywheel bolts torqued to spec are cheap insurance at this power level; ARP hardware is the easy answer.

Be honest about your power level. If your B series is naturally aspirated or under about 350 whp, a Stage 3 or Stage 4 single disc holds it, drives nicer, and skips the rattle. Competition Clutch also builds the same 184mm platform as a single disc (1848026-1) for builds that want the lightweight flywheel and quick revving character without twin disc capacity, and a triple disc (1848026-3) for cars living past 1,000 hp on slicks. And if you're stepping up to this clutch, your factory axles and synchros are the next weak link, so budget for upgraded axles like Insane Shafts while the car is apart. It fits 1992-2001 Preludes running H22A1, H22A4, and H23A1 power, 1990-2002 four cylinder Accords with F22 and F23 engines, and the 1997-1999 Acura CL four cylinder. Competition Clutch rates the 184 series twin disc at up to 1,350 hp per manufacturer, and on real turbo H22 and F-series builds it is commonly run from roughly 500 to over 1,000 whp. For most big turbo Prelude and Accord builds, this clutch will not be the weak link in the drivetrain.

What It Is and Why It Works

Clutches hold torque, not horsepower, and that matters more here than on a B-series car. A turbo H22 at 500 whp makes substantially more torque than a turbo B18C at the same power because of its 2.2L displacement, so a single disc that survives on a B-series will slip sooner on an H. To hold that torque with one disc you need enormous clamp load and aggressive puck material, which means a punishing pedal and on-off engagement. The twin disc splits the job across two 184mm discs and a floater plate, four friction surfaces instead of two. The pressure plate does not have to clamp as hard, so pedal effort is lighter than a comparably rated single, engagement is more progressive, and every launch puts less shock through the synchros and axles.

The smaller discs matter too. Stock H-series discs are roughly 225mm; these are 184mm, so the rotating assembly is lighter and the engine revs faster between shifts. Two smaller discs still give more total friction area than one stock size disc, so you get quicker rev matching and more holding power at the same time.

The kit is built around a 4140 forged steel flywheel that is machined specifically for the 184mm stack, so you do not reuse the OEM flywheel. The two unsprung 6-puck ceramic discs ride on a self-centering floater plate using Competition Clutch's Power-V drive system, which lets the floater center itself as the stack wears so both discs wear evenly. Up top is a CNC machined 6061 T6 aluminum cover with a 6150 steel diaphragm. Per manufacturer, the throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool are included, and the release is push type on a 24-spline, 1-1/32 inch input shaft. The flywheel is the only component that differs between this H/F-series kit and the B-series twin disc (1848026-2); the discs, floater, and cover are shared.

Specs

Manufacturer Part V6 Accords and the 2001-2003 CL use J-series engines with a completely different transmission and clutch, so this kit does not fit them. It also does not fit the 1988-1991 third gen Prelude, which uses B20A and B21A engines. If you are running an H2B swap, an H-series engine on a B-series transmission, this kit does not fit either: the flywheel is machined for the H/F bellhousing, and Competition Clutch makes a dedicated H2B twin disc, part 4-80142-C, with the same discs and cover on a B-series specific flywheel. Prelude Type SH owners should also think about the ATTS front differential at big power; the clutch installs the same, but many high-horsepower builds bypass ATTS.

What to Know Before You Buy

This is a race-oriented clutch and it drives like one. Owners consistently describe pedal effort at roughly two to three times stock, which is noticeable but still lighter than the high-clamp single disc you would otherwise need at this power level. The engagement zone is narrow; you will probably stall it a few times the first day and have it dialed within a week. With the pedal down at idle the floater plate rattles, and the ceramic pucks chirp during engagement. Both are normal for every multi-plate ceramic clutch and neither goes away, so if you spend an hour a day in stop and go traffic, this is not the clutch for you. Break it in gently for about 500 street miles before boost or hard launches so the ceramic pads bed into both discs and the floater.

Our honest recommendation: below roughly 350 to 400 whp on an H or F series, a Stage 3 or Stage 4 single disc holds the power, drives better, and costs less, so this kit is overkill on a bolt-on or mild turbo car. From about 450 to 500 whp up, single discs are at their limit on H-series torque and the twin disc becomes the right tool. Above 1,000 whp, look at the 184mm triple disc (1848014-3) instead. While the transmission is out, replace the rear main seal if it shows any seepage, use new flywheel bolts torqued to spec, and bleed the hydraulics completely, because air in the line makes the narrow engagement point even harder to find. Remember the clutch is now stronger than the gearbox: factory H-series transmissions have known limits at these power levels, so budget for gears and synchros on a serious build.

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

2002-2006

Acura

RSX

Base, Type-S

K20A3, K20A2, K20Z1

2004-2008

Acura

TSX

Base

K24A2

2003-2007

Honda

Accord

DX, LX, EX, SE, 4-cyl manual

K24A4, K24A8

2002-2006

Honda

CR-V

LX, EX, SE, manual

K24A1

2002-2011

Honda

Civic

Si, Mugen Si

K20A3, K20Z3

2003-2011

Honda

Element

DX, LX, EX, SC, manual

K24A4, K24A8

Manual transmission K-series applications only. The Clutch Masters 725 Series Twin Disc Clutch Kit is a 7.25" (184mm) twin disc built for drag-focused B16 and B18 builds, from a turbo B18C1 DC2 Integra to a B16A2 EM1 Civic Si that lives at the strip. Both versions ship with the steel flywheel in the box, so there's no separate flywheel purchase to plan for.

What It Is and Why It Works

Two 7.25" discs split the work one disc can't handle alone. Clutch Masters estimates the FX725 twin at roughly 700 lb-ft of torque, and they're upfront that every torque rating is a ballpark, not a guarantee. The smaller diameter assembly carries less rotating mass than a full-size single, so your B-series revs quicker, shifts faster, and stages more consistently at high RPM.

The cover is machined from billet aluminum and Type 3 hard anodized, with roughly 25% more tensile strength than a cast cover. Clutch Masters measured about .003" of flex in their billet cover where a cast or stamped unit can flex up to .030", so pedal input goes into moving the diaphragm instead of bending the cover. The QR quick release pressure plate uses three spring-loaded bolts to engage and disengage the pressure ring evenly, which Clutch Masters says cuts internal clutch noise and chatter by up to 50%. That's the feature that makes a race twin tolerable on the street.

You pick between two disc setups. The Street and Race version (TD7S) pairs one ceramic rigid disc with one fiber tuff rigid disc for friendlier engagement. The Race version (TD7R) runs two ceramic rigid discs for maximum bite. Both are rigid discs, so neither drives like a sprung street clutch.

Specs

Part numbers

08913-TD7S-S (Street/Race), 08913-TD7R-S (Race)

Disc diameter

7.25" (184mm), twin disc

Cover

Billet aluminum, Type 3 hard anodized

Pressure plate

QR quick release system, three spring-loaded bolts

Torque capacity

Approx. 700 lb-ft (per manufacturer, estimated)

Flywheel

Included. The TD7R with two ceramic discs is the drag piece: it bites hard, engages like a switch, and will make traffic miserable. The TD7S trades a little holding power for engagement you can live with on the drive to the track. Both use rigid discs, so expect more noise and a firmer take-up than any sprung single disc, QR system or not. Clutch Masters says it plainly: this clutch handles occasional street driving, it's not built to daily.

The steel flywheel comes in the box, which is worth noting because the single disc 725 kits with an -X part number make you buy the flywheel separately. If you're chasing every last bit of rotating mass for a race-only car, Clutch Masters also makes a billet 6061-T6 aluminum flywheel version that carries an SFI 1.2 rating for NHRA, IHRA, SCCA and NASA classes; check your rulebook before choosing steel.

While the transmission is out, replace the release bearing (Clutch Masters sells the twin disc release bearing separately, it's not part of this kit) and go through your clutch hydraulics. A 700 lb-ft twin will expose a tired master or slave cylinder on the first hard launch. Clutch Masters also offers a flywheel friction lock that prevents the flywheel from fretting loose on the crank, cheap insurance on a high-RPM B-series. And if your build makes under about 400whp and sees regular street duty, an FX400 single disc will hold it and cost you a lot less hassle at every stoplight.

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

1994-2001

Acura

Integra

RS, LS, GS, GS-R

B18B1 / B18C1

1997-2001

Acura

Integra

Type R

B18C5

1999-2000

Honda

Civic

Si (EM1)

B16A2

1994-1997

Honda

Civic del Sol

VTEC

B16A3

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2218/5701/files/clutch-masters-94-01-integra-t_meob_08c08c06-be42-4f16-93c1-87fa1126035f.jpg?v=1786758259
competition-clutch-b-series-twin-disc-clutch-kit
Competition Clutch Twin Disc Clutch Kit for B Series

750-900 HP power rating

Twin ceramic rigid hub discs

4140 forged steel flywheel included

6061-T6 aluminum cover

Hydraulic B series manual only

Description

Vehicle Fitment

Technical Data

Install Guide

Competition Clutch B Series Twin Disc Clutch Kit

The Competition Clutch B series twin disc clutch kit, part 4-8026-C, is a race clutch for B series builds that have left single disc territory behind. Competition Clutch rates it at 750 to 900 HP, which is big turbo B18 and B16 country: back-half drag Integras, roll racers, and serious street-strip EG and EK swap cars. If your GS-R or Type R makes bolt-on power, this is not your clutch. If you are spinning a built B18C past 9000 rpm with 30 plus psi behind it, this is exactly the sort of hardware that keeps the power reaching the wheels.

What It Is and Why It Works

This is a twin disc system: two ceramic rigid hub discs with a floater plate between them, clamped by a 6061-T6 aluminum cover with a 6150 steel diaphragm, all mounted on an included 4140 forged steel flywheel. Splitting the work across two discs multiplies torque capacity without resorting to brutal clamp loads, so pedal effort stays reasonable for what the clutch holds. Per manufacturer the assembly is plug and play on hydraulic B series transmissions with no gearbox modifications, and the kit ships with the flywheel, discs, pressure plate assembly, release bearing, flywheel bolts, and alignment tool. Individual discs and floaters are serviceable, so a worn friction pack is a rebuild, not a full repurchase.

Specs

Part Number

4-8026-C

Type

Twin disc clutch kit

Disc Material

Ceramic, rigid hub

Power Rating

750 to 900 HP, per manufacturer

Flywheel

4140 forged steel, included

Cover

6061-T6 aluminum with 6150 steel diaphragm

Included

Flywheel, discs, cover assembly, release bearing, hardware, alignment tool, per manufacturer

Transmission

Hydraulic B series manual only

Fitment

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

1994-2001

Acura

Integra

RS, LS, GS, GS-R, Special Edition, Type R

B18B1, B18C1, B18C5

1999-2000

Honda

Civic

Si

B16A2

1994-1997

Honda

Civic del Sol

VTEC

B16A2, B16A3

1997-2001

Honda

CR-V

LX, EX, SE

B20B4, B20Z2

Fitment follows the transmission, so B series swap cars with a hydraulic gearbox, an EG or EK Civic with a B18C and hydro trans for example, are covered even though the chassis is not listed. Cable transmission cars (1990-1993 Integra, 1988-1991 Civic and CRX with the cable B16) are not, unless they have converted to hydraulic actuation.

What to Know Before You Buy

Go in with clear expectations, because this is a race clutch first. Rigid hub ceramic discs and an unsprung floater mean it rattles at idle with the pedal up, chatters when you slip it, and engages with far less forgiveness than any street clutch. That noise is normal for a twin disc and not a warranty problem, but if the rattle would bother you in a daily, buy a Stage 3 or Stage 4 single disc instead and give up the headroom. Budget for the supporting cast too: at 750 plus HP you should already be looking at upgraded axles, mounts, and a healthy clutch hydraulic system, because the factory master and slave are the weak link behind a clutch like this. Break the assembly in per Competition Clutch's instructions before full-power launches so the new friction surfaces bed evenly. For a dedicated B series drag or roll race build, we think this kit is one of the most cost-effective ways into genuine twin disc holding power, and the serviceable disc pack is what makes it liveable season over season.

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

1994-2001

Acura

Integra

RS, LS, GS, GS-R, Special Edition, Type R

B18B1, B18C1, B18C5

1999-2000

Honda

Civic

Si

B16A2

1994-1997

Honda

Civic del Sol

VTEC

B16A2, B16A3

1997-2001

Honda

CR-V

LX, EX, SE

B20B4, B20Z2

Fitment follows the transmission, so B series swap cars with a hydraulic gearbox, an EG or EK Civic with a B18C and hydro trans for example, are covered even though the chassis is not listed. Three 184mm ceramic discs stack the friction area needed to put four-digit power through a K20 or K24 without slip, which is why these end up in big turbo DC5 RSX drag builds, K swapped EG and EK hatches, and roll race Civics far more often than in anything with a license plate frame from a dealership. This is a full race clutch, and Competition Clutch does not pretend otherwise.

What It Is and Why It Works

Multi-disc clutches solve the physics problem of small-diameter Honda gearboxes: instead of one huge disc, you multiply surface area with several compact ones, keeping rotating mass and inertia low so the engine still revs like a race motor. Here you get three 184mm ceramic friction discs with rigid hubs, a 4140 forged steel flywheel, a 6061 T6 aluminum cover, and a 6150 steel diaphragm, with the release bearing included in the kit. Per manufacturer, the package is rated in the 1000 to 1500 horsepower range depending on application, and the 184mm full race series has been proven in heads-up drag racing for years.

Everything in the assembly is serviceable. Discs and floater plates are replaceable individually, so a worn clutch is a rebuild, not a repurchase. If your power goal is under roughly 900 horsepower, we would point you at the Competition Clutch twin disc instead; it is cheaper, quieter, and easier to drive, and we carry it as well. Buy the triple when your turbo, fuel system, and chassis actually demand it.

Specs

Configuration

Triple disc, 184mm

Friction material

Ceramic, rigid (unsprung) discs

Rated capacity

1000 to 1500 hp depending on application, per manufacturer

Flywheel

4140 forged steel, included

Cover

6061 T6 aluminum

Diaphragm

6150 steel

Release bearing

Included

Serviceability

Rebuildable, individual discs and floaters replaceable

Fitment

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

2002-2006

Acura

RSX

Base, Type-S

K20A3, K20A2, K20Z1

2004-2008

Acura

TSX

Base

K24A2

2003-2007

Honda

Accord

2.4L manual trims (DX, LX, EX, SE, VP)

K24A4, K24A8

2002-2005

Honda

Civic

Si (EP3)

K20A3

2006-2011

Honda

Civic

Si, 2008 Mugen Si (FG2, FA5)

K20Z3

2002-2006

Honda

CR-V

LX, EX, SE manual

K24A1

2003-2011

Honda

Element

DX, LX, EX, SC manual

K24A4, K24A8

Every application above is manual transmission only. Because this clutch bolts to the K-series crank and works with the K-series gearbox, it is also the right part for K20 and K24 engine swaps into EG, EK, and other chassis running a K-series transmission, which is where a lot of these kits actually end up.

What to Know Before You Buy

Know what you are signing up for. Multi-disc race clutches rattle at idle in neutral; that is the floater plates moving on their stands and it is normal, not a defect. The rigid ceramic discs engage abruptly, chatter in traffic, and make gear noise a stock clutch never will. This kit belongs in a car built around it: built axles, upgraded engine mounts, a real fuel system, and a driver who accepts race car manners. If any of that gives you pause, step down to the twin disc or the Super Single and be happier.

Give it a proper break-in of several hundred easy street miles (roughly 400 to 500 per manufacturer guidance) before hard launches so the discs seat evenly. While the transmission is out, replace the slave cylinder and flush the hydraulic fluid; consistent pedal feel matters even more with three discs than with one. Our direct recommendation: for a dedicated 1000 plus horsepower K-series drag or roll race build, this kit is the honest choice at its price, and the included forged flywheel and bearing mean there are no surprise add-ons at install time.

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

2002-2006

Acura

RSX

Base, Type-S

K20A3, K20A2, K20Z1

2004-2008

Acura

TSX

Base

K24A2

2003-2007

Honda

Accord

2.4L manual trims (DX, LX, EX, SE, VP)

K24A4, K24A8

2002-2005

Honda

Civic

Si (EP3)

K20A3

2006-2011

Honda

Civic

Si, 2008 Mugen Si (FG2, FA5)

K20Z3

2002-2006

Honda

CR-V

LX, EX, SE manual

K24A1

2003-2011

Honda

Element

DX, LX, EX, SC manual

K24A4, K24A8

Every application above is manual transmission only. The Competition Clutch triple disc clutch kit, part number 4T-8026-C, takes the other route. It splits torque across three 184mm ceramic discs, so holding capacity comes from surface area instead of brute clamp load. That is the reason a DC2 Integra or an EK making serious power ends up here rather than on another single plate. The kit ships as a complete assembly with the flywheel already matched to the pack, so nothing is left to guesswork.

What It Is and Why It Works

Three 184mm ceramic discs run on rigid, unsprung hubs against a 4140 forged steel flywheel, under a 6061 T6 aluminum cover with a 6150 steel diaphragm. Ceramic friction material grabs quickly and tolerates the heat that turns an organic disc to glaze after a few hard passes. The rigid hub deletes the sprung center damper found in a street clutch, which is exactly what makes engagement repeatable at the strip and exactly what makes the car noisier and harsher everywhere else. Competition Clutch builds this as a race assembly and publishes a capacity of roughly 1000 to 1500 horsepower depending on application. Treat that as a ceiling for the hardware, not a promise about your axles, transmission or tires.

Fitment is tied to hydraulic clutch B-series transmissions. That covers the 1994-2001 Integra in RS, LS, GS, GS-R and Type R form with B18B1, B18C1 and B18C5 engines, the 1999-2000 Civic Si with the B16A2, the 1994-1997 del Sol VTEC with the B16A3, and the 1997-2001 CR-V with B20B4 and B20Z2. Cable clutch chassis such as the 1988-1991 EF and 1992-1995 EG Civic are a different setup entirely and are not covered by this part Rigid hub ceramic discs chatter on take-off until you learn the engagement point, the pack rattles at idle and while the pedal is down, and none of that is a defect. Engagement is closer to on or off than a stock disc, so creeping in traffic and hill starts take real effort. Competition Clutch specifies a break-in of roughly 500 to 700 easy street miles for ceramic assemblies before hard launches, and skipping it is the fastest way to glaze a fresh set of discs. Multi-disc racing clutches are also excluded from the Competition Clutch limited warranty, so a mistake here is on your dime.

Our honest recommendation: if the car sees daily driving, buy a single disc instead and keep your commute pleasant. A triple belongs in a car built to run hard, with the driver willing to live with the noise. If you are ordering, plan on a full clutch hydraulic bleed with fresh fluid and a fresh look at the master and slave cylinders while the transmission is out. A tired master cylinder hides a lot better behind a soft street clutch than it does behind three ceramic discs. Budget for axles and a real tune too, because a clutch that finally holds your power tends to expose whatever else was slipping.

Year

Make

Model

Trim

Engine

1994-1998

Acura

Integra

RS

B18B1

1994-2001

Acura

Integra

LS

B18B1

1997-2001

Acura

Integra

GS

B18B1

1994-2001

Acura

Integra

GS-R

B18C1

1995-1996

Acura

Integra

Special Edition

B18B1

1997-2001

Acura

Integra

Type R

B18C5

1999-2000

Honda

Civic

Si

B16A2

1994-1997

Honda

Civic del Sol

VTEC

B16A3

1997-2001

Honda

CR-V

LX, EX, SE

B20B4, B20Z2

If you are running a B-series swap in a chassis that is not listed, what matters is the transmission and the clutch actuation, not the shell. A 7.25 inch twin disc built from decades of drag racing development, designed to hold serious horsepower and torque while keeping pedal effort reasonable enough that you can actually operate it. If you've outgrown single disc clutches or you're building something that makes real power, this is where you end up.

Be Honest About Street Use

Clutch Masters is upfront about this and so are we. The FX725 is focused on drag racing, and the minimal rotational mass that makes it so effective on track is exactly what makes it less than ideal as a daily driver clutch.

That said, friction material has come a long way, and this Street and Race configuration is specifically built to handle occasional street driving. So if the car sees the road between track outings, it'll do that. What it won't do is be pleasant in stop and go traffic every morning. Buy it knowing which side of that line your car lives on.

If your car is genuinely a daily that occasionally sees a track day, you want a single disc setup instead. This is for the build where performance comes first.

Why Twin Disc Instead Of Single

Two discs means twice the friction surface, and that changes what's possible. You can hold dramatically more torque, and because the load is spread across two surfaces, you get that capacity without the brutal pedal pressure a single disc needs to hold the same power. That's the whole appeal: enormous holding capacity that you can still modulate.

The smaller 7.25 inch diameter also cuts rotational mass significantly compared to a full-size clutch, which means the engine revs faster and gear changes happen quicker. On a drag car that's time. The 7.25 size also fits the smaller bellhousings on these transmissions, which is why it's the twin disc for K-series rather than a larger race unit.

The Billet Cover Is Where The Money Goes

This is the part that separates it from cheaper multi-disc setups, and the numbers make the case. The cover assembly is machined from billet aluminum and Type 3 hard anodized, with roughly 25% more tensile strength than a competitor's cast unit.

What that buys you is consistency. A billet cover flexes about .003 inches under load. A cast or stamped cover can flex as much as .030 inches, ten times as much. That flex is wasted motion, because every bit of travel your throwout bearing spends bending the cover is travel that isn't engaging or disengaging the clutch. Eliminate it and your pedal does exactly what you asked, every time, which matters enormously when you're staging a car or shifting at the limit.

The stiffer cover also delivers more clamping force over the same surface area, so you're holding more power with a clutch that's easier to drive.

The QR System Is Why It's Quiet

Multi-disc clutches have a reputation for rattling, and it's earned. Clutch Masters addresses it with their Quick Release pressure plate, which is unique to their multi-disc kits.

Three spring-loaded bolts let the pressure plate engage and disengage evenly and smoothly, and the result is up to 50% less internal clutch noise and chatter. Two rigid 184mm cerametallic discs, a forged aluminum cover, a drilled chromoly flywheel, and a 427 lb-ft at-the-wheels rating on a B-series. It's built for a turbo B18C or B16 that's outgrown a single disc and spends its time on a drag strip or a road course. If you're looking for a clutch that's pleasant in traffic, stop reading; the Compe-R has no damper springs and it will tell you so at every stoplight.

What It Is and Why It Works

Two small discs give you more friction area than one big one at a fraction of the inertia, which is why a twin holds more torque and still shifts faster than a Stage 2. The Compe-R uses rigid discs, no sprung hub, so there's nothing between the flywheel and the input shaft but T5001 cerametallic and steel. Engagement is immediate and shifts are as fast as your hand. The cost is noise: rigid discs rattle at idle and transmit every driveline shock straight into the gearset.

The forged aluminum cover doesn't deflect under load, so Exedy can run a higher lever ratio for more clamp without a ridiculous pedal. The grooved center plate helps the discs separate cleanly at high rpm so the clutch releases when you ask it to. The drilled chromoly flywheel is included and it's light; expect a fast-revving, easy-to-stall setup until you learn it.

Specs

Part number

HM022SR

Series

Hyper Compe-R, twin plate, rigid discs

Torque capacity

427 lb-ft at the wheels (per Exedy)

Clamp load

2,023 lb

Disc diameter

184mm

Spline

24 tooth x 26mm, hydraulic B-series

Cover

Forged aluminum, push type

Flywheel

Drilled chromoly, included

Required, not included

Accessory kit HCAK100 or HCAK101 (application dependent)

Certification

SFI 1.2 / 1.5

Fitment

Vehicle

Engine

1994-2001 Acura Integra

B18B1, B18C1, B18C5, hydraulic transmission

1999-2000 Honda Civic Si

B16A2

1994-1997 Honda Civic del Sol VTEC

B16A3

B-swaps

Any chassis on a hydraulic B-series transmission

Hydraulic B-series only. That's Exedy's rating for the K-series Compe-R twin, and it's the number that puts this clutch in a different class from anything with one disc. Rigid 200mm cerametallic plates, forged aluminum cover, drilled chromoly flywheel, SFI 1.2/1.5. It's for a big-turbo K20 or K24 that races, and it drives like it.

What It Is and Why It Works

Two discs double the friction area without doubling the diameter, so the twin holds far more torque than a single while carrying less inertia. The Compe-R discs are rigid, no sprung hub, so engagement is instant and there's no damper to fatigue. It also means every idle pulse and shift shock goes straight into the gearset; rigid twins rattle at idle and that's normal.

The forged cover doesn't flex, which lets Exedy run a lever ratio that keeps the pedal manageable at 2,427 lb of clamp. The grooved center plate helps the discs release cleanly at high rpm. The drilled chromoly flywheel ships in the box and it's light, so a stock-tune 12-15 Si will stall and hunt until it's retuned for the lower inertia.

Specs

Part number

HM032SBL

Series

Hyper Compe-R, twin plate, rigid discs

Torque capacity

563 lb-ft at the wheels (per Exedy)

Clamp load

2,427 lb

Disc diameter

200mm

Spline

24 tooth x 26mm

Cover

Forged aluminum, push type

Flywheel

Drilled chromoly, included (FM55)

Required, not included

Accessory kit HCAK103

Certification

SFI 1.2 / 1.5

Fitment

Vehicle

Engine

2002-2006 Acura RSX Base, Type-S

K20A3, K20A2, K20Z1

2002-2005 Honda Civic Si

K20A3, 5-speed

2006-2011 Honda Civic Si

K20Z3, 6-speed

2012-2015 Honda Civic Si

K24Z7, 6-speed (requires ECU retune)

2004-2008 Acura TSX

K24A2

K-swaps

Any chassis on a 24-spline K-series transmission

What to Know Before You Buy

Buy HCAK103 with it. 184mm twin can hold, you're not solving it with a stiffer street plate. That plate wrecks your left leg in traffic, and a puck disc shock-loads axles on every shift. The Competition Clutch 184mm B-series triple, part number 1848026-3, is the standard-cover ceramic race kit for hydraulic B-series manuals that need three 184mm (7.25 inch) discs and a Chromoly flywheel. Competition Clutch rates it at 2,000 hp per manufacturer. 1848026-D3 is the dual-diaphragm triple on the same disc count. It isn't the same kit as 1848026-3, and it isn't 1848026-1 or 1848026-2.

What It Is and Why It Works

A 184mm stack cuts rotating mass versus a stock 215mm B-series disc, so a built B18C revs harder between shifts. You give up surface area per disc and get it back by adding discs. 1848026-3 is the standard-cover triple: three segmented ceramic discs on a solid hub, Power-V self-centering floaters, and a Chromoly flywheel in the box. You can't reuse an OEM B-series flywheel on this diameter. Competition Clutch rates the kit at 2,000 hp per manufacturer and builds it in Anaheim, CA.

1848026-D3 is the dual-diaphragm triple. Same three ceramic discs, same 2,000 hp per manufacturer, different cover. Dual diaphragm is Competition Clutch's heavier clamp, not a higher published rating. Buy 1848026-3 when triple capacity is enough. Buy D3 when you want that extra clamp and you'll accept a heavier pedal than the standard 184 twin (1848026-2). Neither kit is 1848026-1 or 1848026-2.

The 1848026-3 page publishes a spec table with segmented ceramic discs, a solid hub, an alignment tool, hardware, a throwout bearing, and a pilot bushing. The D3 page does not republish that table, so we're not writing those extras onto D3. This is a race clutch. Ceramic pucks chatter, a triple pack rattles at idle, and the bite is sharp. Pedal effort is well above stock, and D3 is heavier still than the standard 184 twin. If your Integra still lives in stop-and-go, a sprung single disc is the honest daily choice.

Specs

Manufacturer Part Number

1848026-3, 1848026-D3

Hybrid Racing SKU

COC-1848026-3, COC-1848026-D3

Type

184 Series full-race triple clutch kit with Chromoly flywheel

Disc Diameter

184mm (7.25 inch)

Disc Quantity

3

Friction Material

Ceramic, segmented on 1848026-3

Hub Style

Solid on 1848026-3

Cover

Standard on 1848026-3; dual diaphragm on 1848026-D3

Flywheel

Chromoly, included

Drive

Power-V self-centering floater

Power Rating

2,000 hp per manufacturer on both SKUs

1848026-3 box

Throwout bearing, pilot bushing, alignment tool, and hardware, per manufacturer

Engine Family

Honda B-series (B16, B18, B20), hydraulic manuals

Assembly

Built, tested, and assembled in Anaheim, CA, per manufacturer

Available Options

Option

Part Number

Hybrid Racing SKU

Cover

HP, per manufacturer

Standard Triple

1848026-3

COC-1848026-3

Standard (not dual)

2,000

Dual Diaphragm Triple

1848026-D3

COC-1848026-D3

Dual diaphragm

2,000

1848026-3 and 1848026-D3 share disc count and the same published 2,000 hp figure.
