The RV6 R365 Red Turbo is a ball bearing version derived from the RV6’s highly developed Black Series turbo. Externally, the Red Series is identical to the Black, giving the same precise fitment for L15 equipped CivicX. The changes are internal with the Red Turbo getting a dual ball bearing cartridge providing 400RPM faster spool. The Red Series uses much of the same innovation that made the R365 Black such a success. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is the latest update to the R365 Series Turbo. It features a new compressor and turbine wheel for faster spool and more top end power. An inconel turbo wheel is used to cut down weight and reduce fatigue from heat cycles. When you're running serious boost, your intake air temps climb and you start knocking. Water\/meth cools that charge down and raises your effective octane so you can run more boost and more aggressive timing without blowing up your motor. You can pick up 20% more power on pump gas with water\/meth compared to pump gas alone. AEM makes two versions of this kit - the boost-dependent controller (30-3300) for setups under 35 PSI, and the multi-input controller (30-3350) for ultra-high boost setups over 35 PSI or naturally aspirated applications.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4\u003eHere's What Water\/Meth Actually Does\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWater\/methanol injection works on two fronts - it cools your intake charge and it raises your effective octane. When you spray water\/meth into your intake, the water evaporates and pulls heat out of the air. Cooler air's more dense so you're cramming more oxygen into the cylinder. More oxygen means more power. The methanol raises your effective octane which suppresses detonation. That lets you run higher boost pressure and more aggressive ignition timing without knocking your motor to death. The combination of cooler intake temps and higher effective octane lets you make way more power on 93 octane pump gas than you could without water\/meth. Even if you're running E85 or race gas, water\/meth still helps because it cools the intake charge even more and gives you extra headroom before you hit knock.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4\u003eTwo Controllers for Different Applications\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBoost-Dependent Controller (Part Number 30-3300):\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nThis version's got an on-board MAP sensor with a molded-in nipple for your boost hose. It's designed for forced induction setups running up to 35 PSI of boost. The controller reads boost pressure directly from the sensor and progressively increases water\/meth flow as boost climbs. You set your start point (when injection begins) and your full activation point (when you're getting maximum flow). The on-board sensor maxes out at 35 PSI so if you're running more boost than that, you need the multi-input controller instead. For most street turbo builds running 15-30 PSI, the boost-dependent controller's the simpler option because you don't need an external MAP sensor.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMulti-Input Controller (Part Number 30-3350):\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nThis version works with external 0-5 volt MAP sensors for ultra-high boost setups over 35 PSI. It also works with frequency-based inputs like injector duty cycle (IDC) or mass airflow (MAF) sensors, which makes it compatible with high-compression naturally aspirated builds. If you're running a high-comp all-motor car and you want water\/meth for extra knock protection, you can trigger injection based on MAF or IDC instead of boost pressure. The multi-input controller's got dipswitches on the back for programming which input type you're using. If you're running over 35 PSI or you're doing a naturally aspirated application, this is the controller you need.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch4\u003eBoost Safe Failsafe System\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBoth controllers have AEM's Boost Safe failsafe output. The system monitors the injection for voltage errors like shorts, broken wires, bad connections, or low fluid. If the controller detects a problem, it triggers a ground signal. You can wire that signal to a warning light on your dash so you know the system's down. Or you can wire it to your standalone ECU to pull boost, retard timing, or switch to a safe fuel map when water\/meth fails. If you're running 30 PSI on pump gas and your water\/meth system quits, you're knocking immediately and you're going to damage your motor.
