When you're making more boost than stock or you're running an upgraded intercooler, your factory charge pipes choke airflow and your rubber couplers balloon. We designed our charge pipe kit to fix that. Our cold-side pipe's larger diameter than stock, which flows more air. Our hot-side pipe's the same diameter as stock, which keeps your turbo spooling fast. We use 4-ply silicone couplers instead of rubber, so they don't expand under boost and they don't melt from turbo heat. If you're upgrading your intercooler or you're making more boost than stock, you need better charge pipes.

Here's Why Your Factory Charge Pipes Don't Work

Your factory charge pipes use rubber hoses that expand under boost. When you're making more boost than stock, the rubber hoses balloon and you lose boost pressure. The hoses also get soft from heat, and if you're running hard at the track, they can melt from turbo heat. We've melted factory rubber hoses multiple times on our shop car. The factory cold-side pipe's also restrictive. It chokes airflow to your intercooler, which means higher intake temps and less power. Our charge pipe kit uses larger-diameter cold-side piping and 4-ply silicone couplers that don't expand or melt.

Larger Cold-Side, Stock-Diameter Hot-Side

We designed the cold-side pipe (intercooler to throttle body) with larger diameter than stock. More diameter means more airflow, which means your intercooler flows better and your intake temps are lower. The hot-side pipe (turbo to intercooler) is the same diameter as stock. Keeping the hot-side pipe stock diameter maintains turbo spool response. If you make the hot-side pipe too big, your turbo takes longer to spool. We kept it stock diameter so your turbo spools just as fast as factory while your cold-side flows way better.

4-Ply Silicone Couplers Don't Expand or Melt

We use 4-ply silicone couplers throughout the kit. Silicone has way lower heat transfer than aluminum or steel, so it doesn't heat-soak your charge air. Silicone's also way stronger than rubber. The factory rubber hoses expand under boost, especially when you're making more boost than stock. Our 4-ply silicone couplers don't expand. They're reinforced with four layers of fabric, so they hold their shape under high boost. Silicone also handles heat way better than rubber. It doesn't melt or get soft from turbo heat.

Cast Aluminum Intercooler Outlet

The kit includes a cast aluminum intercooler outlet piece. It's designed to mate smoothly with your intercooler and our charge pipe. The cast aluminum piece flows better than the factory plastic outlet, and it doesn't crack or break from heat cycling.

1/8" NPT Port for Boost Gauge or Sensor

Our charge pipe has a 1/8" NPT auxiliary port. You can use it for a boost gauge, a MAP sensor, or any other 1/8" NPT fitting. The port's on the cold side of the intercooler, so it's reading post-intercooler boost pressure. We recommend using it with our PRL Motorsports intercooler for optimal fitment and results, but it's compatible with any factory-fitment intercooler. No ECU tuning required. The charge pipes flow better than stock, but they don't change your boost levels or fueling enough to require a retune. If you're already running a tune with higher boost, you don't need to retune just for the charge pipes. Check all your couplers and clamps after installation. Make sure everything's tight and there are no boost leaks. A loose clamp will kill your performance gains. If you're not using the 1/8" NPT port, plug it with a 1/8" NPT plug. When you're pushing 20+ PSI, those rubber hoses balloon out and you're losing boost pressure and throttle response. HKS replaces the stock rubber piping with mandrel-bent aluminum pipes and reinforced silicone couplers. The aluminum doesn't expand under pressure so your boost stays stable and your throttle response gets sharper. The HKS inlet pipe's cast aluminum with a smooth internal layout that reduces flow restriction compared to the stock rubber piping. You're getting better airflow to the intercooler, more consistent boost pressure, and crisper throttle response. If you're running a stock turbo or you've upgraded to a bigger turbo, the HKS piping handles it.

Here's Why Stock Rubber Piping Holds You Back

Your stock FK8 intercooler piping is made from rubber. Rubber's cheap and it works fine at factory boost levels but it's got a problem. When you're under boost, the rubber expands. The hoses balloon out slightly and that expansion means you're losing some of your boost pressure before it gets to the motor. You're also adding compliance to the system. When you hammer the throttle, the rubber hoses expand before the air pressure stabilizes. That delays your throttle response. The stock rubber piping also restricts airflow because the internal layout isn't optimized. There are bends and transitions that create turbulence and slow down the airflow. HKS fixes all of that with aluminum piping.

Aluminum Piping with Optimized Flow Path

HKS builds this kit with mandrel-bent aluminum pipes. Aluminum doesn't expand under boost pressure so your boost stays consistent. The pipes hold their shape whether you're cruising at partial throttle or you're at full boost. The HKS inlet pipe's cast aluminum with a smooth, optimized internal layout. The casting process lets HKS design the internal flow path to reduce restrictions and turbulence. Smoother airflow means the intercooler's more efficient at cooling the charge air and you're getting denser air into the motor. Denser air means more power. The kit also includes reinforced silicone couplers and high-quality hose clamps. The silicone couplers are way stronger than the stock rubber hoses and they're designed to handle high boost pressure without leaking or blowing off.

Better Throttle Response and Stable Boost

When you replace the stock rubber piping with the HKS aluminum kit, you're going to notice sharper throttle response. The aluminum pipes don't flex or expand so when you hit the throttle, the boost builds faster and more consistently. You're not waiting for the rubber hoses to stop ballooning before the pressure stabilizes. The result's a more immediate response when you're getting on the throttle. Boost pressure stays more stable across the RPM range too. You're not seeing boost fluctuations from the piping expanding and contracting. If you've upgraded your turbo or you're running more boost, the HKS piping handles it without issues.

What You Get

HKS intercooler piping kit for FK8 Civic Type R

Mandrel-bent aluminum pipes (replaces stock rubber piping)

Cast aluminum inlet pipe with optimized flow path

Reinforced silicone couplers

High-quality stainless steel hose clamps

All necessary hardware for installation

Direct bolt-on fitment

Fits Your Car

2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R (FK8)

2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition (FK8)

Note: This kit is designed for the FK8 Civic Type R only. Honda used rubber hoses there, and rubber under boost balloons and flexes, which robs you of consistent power and eventually turns into a boost leak down the road. This PRL charge pipe kit replaces those factory pipes with a larger, smoother, stronger setup that moves more air and holds boost the way it should. It bolts on with no tune required, so it's a straightforward upgrade that fixes a known weak point and tightens up how the car makes power.

What It Actually Fixes

The big story here is the cold side. The factory cold-side pipe is a restrictive 1.5 inch inner diameter, and PRL opens that up to 2.5 inches of smooth-flowing tubing. That's a substantial jump in airflow between your intercooler and the engine. On the hot side, PRL keeps the factory diameter on purpose, because that helps the turbo spool quickly instead of feeling lazy off boost. So you get more airflow where it helps and quick spool where it counts, which shows up as more efficient, more consistent power delivery.

Why Silicone Instead Of The Factory Rubber

The 4-ply silicone couplers throughout this kit aren't just a material swap, they solve several real problems at once. First, silicone barely transfers heat compared to metal, so it helps keep your charge air cooler and cuts down on heat soak. Second, and this is the big one, the factory rubber hoses expand under boost and only get worse as you add more, and over time that rubber weakens until a boost leak shows up. PRL's high-temp 4-ply silicone handles turbo heat and pressure far better and won't balloon the way the old rubber does. Third, custom-molded silicone lets PRL build smoother, higher-flowing bends than metal tubing allows. And fourth, the silicone actually fits better than the factory hoses, especially if you're running an aftermarket radiator, where the OEM rubbers get fussy.

Built To Hold Boost

This is a properly built kit. You get a cold-side charge pipe with a machined billet aluminum flange, and a lower cold-side pipe with an auxiliary service port, which comes with a 1/8 inch NPT plug pre-installed. That port is handy down the road if you want to add a sensor or a methanol nozzle to a bigger build. Everything clamps down with 304 stainless steel worm clamps so nothing rusts or loosens, and the 4-ply silicone couplers seal tight and stay put under pressure. It's the kind of hardware that solves the factory boost-leak problem for good instead of just delaying it.

Fits Your Accord, Automatic Or Manual

This kit fits all 2018-2022 Honda Accord 2.0T models, across every variant, the 10-speed automatic, the 6-speed manual, RHD, and international cars included. A larger cold side carries cooled air to the throttle body with less restriction, the hot side stays at factory diameter to protect spool, and 4-ply silicone couplers keep engine bay heat out of the air you're trying to keep cool.

Heat Soak Is The Real Gain

Worth understanding, because it's what this kit actually addresses.

Charge air leaves your intercooler cool and then has to travel to the throttle body. Along the way, anything hot that it passes close to transfers heat into it. The engine bay on a working turbo car is a hot place, so that heat soak partly undoes what the intercooler just accomplished.

The 4-ply silicone couplers matter here specifically because silicone conducts heat far less readily than metal. Where a metal coupler sitting in a hot bay pulls heat into the charge air, silicone insulates against it. Your air arrives at the engine closer to the temperature the intercooler left it at.

On a Type R that sees sustained load, keeping charge temperatures down through the whole path is what keeps power consistent rather than fading as the bay heats up.

Smoother Flow Through The Bends

The other real benefit, and it's about how the air moves.

Custom molded silicone allows smoother, larger radius bends than the factory routing. Air moves through a smooth bend more efficiently than a tight or abrupt one, with less turbulence and less pressure lost getting around corners.

The larger cold side diameter works alongside that, giving cooled air a freer path from the intercooler to the throttle body. The hot side outlet stays at factory diameter deliberately, since keeping that section tighter maintains velocity where the turbo needs it for spool.

Better Fitment, Especially With A Bigger Radiator

Practical benefit worth knowing if your cooling is upgraded.

PRL found the factory routing doesn't package particularly well alongside an aftermarket radiator. Their silicone actually fits better than the factory arrangement in that situation, which is unusual for an aftermarket part and useful if your build has moved past stock cooling.

One note: with an aftermarket radiator, minor trimming of the radiator or fan shroud may be required for clearance. Plan for it rather than being surprised mid-install.

Keeps Your Vacuum Connections

The charge pipe comes with fittings to retain the factory vacuum connections, plus a 1/8" NPT auxiliary service port.

Your existing vacuum lines plug in where they belong, and the service port gives you a ready location for a boost gauge, sensor, or leak tester.
